Are poinsetta (sp?) really poisonous - my sis seems to think so and since I have just gone mad and bought 4 I would like to know?

they are a member of the euphorbia family. The sap can be an irritant. I got some euphorbia sap (there are lots of varieties, one of which is seeded everywhere by birds) on my face when tackling an overgrown garden some years ago, i woke in the morning with my face burning and a huge blister. It took months for the scarring to fade. However, i ran a florists for 10 years and handled lots of poinsettia and never had a reaction to those.
Just make sure animals don't chew on it, likewise you don't want children (or adults for that matter) manhandling it.......
As they are ornamental it's not really a problem.......
