Can anyone recommend me a tamagotchi type thing?

I know nothing of these. Are they entirely rubbish, or are some better than others?

DD has had several in her time. I think they're all much the same, but probably the newer version will be the best. I had to look after DD's once when she went on Brownie camp, and actually got quite attached to it .
