• you can have your old name back by changing it back in exactly the same way. It's highly unlikely that anyone new joining in the meantime will nick yours and if they do you can jump up and down and fling newspaper at them until they give in and change it

Erm, I don't know actually - well either way - either you get to keep your name or I'm sure my newspaper technique would stamp out any imposters very successfully, so problem solved.

No one can take your name once you are registered with it. It is yours forever!! Well, unless you deregister i guess!
