Any Panto experts out there?

Hoping to take DD (4.5) to her (and my) first panto this year.

She can be easily frightened, however, so can anyone tell me if which, if any, are a bit mild with little or no scary characters?

I think it all depends on the way the production is done - I've seen some versions of Aladdin with very scary characters (The 'uncle') and others where he has been portrayed almost as a comical figure... so I don't think it is as easy as just selecting the panto, as they have all got their baddies.

perhaps an idea might be to leave the panto until after Christmas - usually there is a panto on tv over christmas, perhaps you can watch that with her and explain the plot lines, that there is a baddy - the concept of booing etc just to get her used to what to expect? Also, read the story beforehand, just so she knows that there is a happy ending in the end!

Oh thanks, ketal. I should have realised it would vary. I think the TV idea is a good one - we'll hold off as you suggest. Thanks again!
