I think the top may be a bit crunchy - does that mean the whole thing is shafted?

i have done mine twice....top first, then the bottom and will give each another dousing before christmas

and i generally marzipan it the week before christmas and then dd will ice it on christmas eve.....we are not fans of brittle icing so if you do it late it stays fudgey and soft, especially if you use an eggwhite instead of water/lemon juice.

I try to remember to feed mine at least once a week and then marzipan / ice close to Christmas.

Mine is not wrapped, but in an airtight cake box. I think I did that last year and it was still moist, but I feel a bit worried now. Maybe I will wrap it.....
