We go for one about 8/9 ft and take off the top bit that is thin (I like a nice shape all the way up) - obv we have fresh ones!

We keep decorations but add to them each year. We choose 3 or 4 really nice (and usually expensive if the children help)decorations each year to replace any that get broken/old and to further overload my enormous tree

WE always have the traditional arguement- DH wants a foot high fibre-optic-colour-changing eyesoretree to go on top of the TV. I want a real, 12ft nordic pine, lovingly sourced. We compromise on a 5/6ft tree that he thinks is ridiculously big and I think is ridiculously small and don't speak all the way home (too busy removing pine needles from down the back of our necks in the car)

It NEVER fits in the pot, and has to be sawed, to much grumbling and moaning from DH. He ALWAYS saws too much off (cue emotinal weeping from me) and then the next challenge is to somehow fit every single decoration we have ever owned, plus this year's newbies onto it. And it always looks beautiful and moves me to tears (DH just grunts and goes back to the paper) Sigh!

lol @ muggglewump and her tree with the missing branch/toilet brush!

Ours is a 6ft fake one. It's too big really (and it stand on our coffee table), but I like having the xmas tree taller than me.

Just click on Gisela Graham Christmas.

FA I go to a lovely garden centre locally just after christma and buy loads of stuff in the sale in preparation for the next christmas. I don't totally redo everything every year, but fancy a change every so often.

CoV I can't wait to see your tree this year! I agree it's great fun raiding the sales. People son't seem to bother with the decorations. I go to our local Fenwicks and get half price glass posh ones
