Dusty, we put ours in an aquarium that we got from the recycle centre. If there is no lid, you can put sticky backed velcro around the sides at the top and attach mesh to it. They like climbing the mesh at the top.
They don't need heating

I am happy to send you eggs if you like.

Kapla? That's what I'm getting my DS (6) for Christmas this year. He wants to build a 30-foot tower and then demolish it.

He loves K'nex, Heros Konstruktion, and Quercetti Gears (not the 'baby' versions - they tend to be too boring for this age). The Heros one gets my vote, though it's quite hard to find - I think I got a motorised one on German eBay. He also loves Lego (oh yes).

iheartdusty · 18/10/2008 20:48

wow, purpleduck, thanks for the offer.

can you email me when convenient on hc dot tarantelle at googlemail dot com?

I need to go now as PILs visiting but will look forward to hearing from you.

My ds is coming up to 6. He wants a Ben 10 watch, a Star Wars light saber (or should that be sabre), any Lego (sorry), Dr Who figures and a TARDIS and books.

yomellamoHelly · 18/10/2008 22:11

Scooter? (If you haven't got one already)
Digital camera?
Ds is also getting a chocolate coin maker which'll cause him to collapse in delight
He's also asked for a popcorn maker.
He'll also enjoy any action type game (elefun type thing, tiddly winks, guess who etc). He really enjoys his Operation game.
Any kind of drawing stuff and craft stuff is always a sure success too.
He is also interested in the action-type toys (Ben 10 etc), but I'm not sure he'll know what to do with them - so a bit of a gamble. Depends on the child I guess.

Definitely Playmobil! If you already have the pirate ship, then get him some more pirate sets to go with it. Also they do construction stuff, and have a police helicopter and a rescue helicopter.

zoob big hit chez mazzy

something remote control?

star wars not esp scary, no gore, baddies fall down holes rather than get blasted [ds 4 has loved it for about a year!]

dr who however, terrifying

mummypingu · 20/10/2008 14:12

most branded things that ds would like are influenced by what his older cousins have..they are 6 and 8. ds is desperate to have dr who stuff but has never seen it (no way at 4!!)so has no idea what is actually going on...has seen batman and ben 10 on itv on sat morning but again was introduced by cousins..we are clueless to whats going on out there. ben 10 is quite good. so far have steered him away from power rangers...watched it once and it was excruciating!! no idea what star wars is but again has little bit of lego from it. has seen walle at cinema (first trip)and adored it

mazzystartled · 20/10/2008 14:15

ds also loves [shudder]power rangers
but they are vile

mummypingu · 20/10/2008 20:27

yes i was a bit agog at just how bad power rangers was.

mazzystartled · 20/10/2008 21:32

ds has actually never seen the programme [i have and it is Not Suitable], but he loves the dollies the action figures.

acoady · 23/10/2008 21:05
