Amazon....Grrrrr!

Had saved a few things in the basket on my Amazon page over the past couple of months - about to order them today and the cheeky s*ds have increased the price of 3 of the books I wanted and 2 of the games!!! Suppose its cos of the Xmas rush and people using their site rather than shops so they can get away with it etc but even so.....hmph!

That'll teach me to leave it (but October is hardly late is it????!!!)

Sorry just needed to vent frustration!

I am convinced they have software which records 'clicks' and ups the prices on certain items once they have been placed in a basket. Same thing happened to us on a camera and a dvd recorder...we'd been back and forth to the pages a few times, and saved things in the basket. Were they items which were likely to popular or lower interest stuff? I think they keep the big best-sellers etc low, but the things they sell fewer of are upped. Or maybe DH and I are paranoid!

Wouldn't surprise me if they did monitor activity for that purpose, they obviously do monitor because they send those 'you might like this emails'.

Actually, this has happened to me in the opposite direction - although admittedly maybe on my wish list. I save stuff and leave it there until the price comes down...

Ah now this would explain why they have cut their free delivery price so you can get free delivery if you spend a fiver, they've put their prices up. Ce la vie!

Actually I discovered last year that Amazon charge cheaper prices if you are not registered with them . I was appalled when I went into the site on a friend's PC and found something I'd looked up on mine at home was cheaper on hers. So I started a new account and used it to get the book at £10 cheaper!

Oh I noticed they had reduced their cost eligable for free delivery to a fiver. So at least you might save a bit that way....

I have oodles of stuff saved for later and there's usually a mixture of prices up and prices down.

twentynine -- amazon got rapped or doing something like that a few years back and were supposed to have stopped. So if you've got evidence that they've done it recently it could be worth contacting Watchdog or similar.

I had my eye on a Garmin GPS running watch for a while on Amazon but was pondering about the price and whether I should get it.

I then made the decision...logged on to get it..and the price had gone up! I was very annoyed so phoned them up to rant (I was in a hormonal mood!) but almost straight away they said I could have it at the original price as they have a price match thingy on there site.

Can't remember the exact details but it was something to do with if they had the price cheaper in the last week or month (can't remember which) then you can get it at that price. Sorry this is a bit vague but I would try phoning up as you might be able to sort something out?

Did you know that if you buy something from Amazon and the price goes down afterwards (in the next 28 days I think it is) you can get a refund of the difference? You just send them an email and they refund your account.
So it is worth keeping an eye on prices for a while afterwards, especially on the more expensive items.
