Are they sturdy enough to really use again the next year, or do they look all tatty?

belgo · 08/10/2008 19:14

Yes you can reuse the boxes, I've kept them with the intention of refilling them with playmobil that I will buy seperately. I'm not doing it this year though, playmobil gets expensive and my girls are still too young to really understand advent.

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 08/10/2008 20:28

If you buy more than one, you can alternate each year. We went to the Playmobil factory when we were in Malta (slightly embaressing as all 3 of us were in our late twenties and playing in the play area alongside 5yr olds and purchased different calendars for us, MIL and SIL. Each year we swap so we get a diff scene.

Agrre with the comment about the Lego one. DH had that one last year and was not impressed.

Troutpout · 08/10/2008 20:38

yes we tried the lego too..not impressed.
We've had the playmobil one for about 5 years and it's still going strong

Buda · 09/10/2008 03:08

Our Playmobile one is still ok too. I will admit to being a bit anal about it though - I keep it all in a carrier bag and each day as we open a box i flatten the box out again and put it in the bag, then after Xmas put all the bits in the bag ready for next year. Also get a bit unsettled (to say the least) when DS insists on putting the bits in the wrong places! I like it to look the same as on the picture .

SuperBunny · 09/10/2008 03:20

Ooooooooooo, I want one. For DS. Obviously

Is it only for christmas? I mean, do they get to keep the bits to play with or do you have to put them back for next year? I can't see a 3 yr old wanting to put them away.

They're $17 - how much are they in the UK? Should I get my mum to bring one out?

Buda · 09/10/2008 03:28

Prob cheaper in US Superbunny - most things are aren't they?

You do have to keep the bits separate if you want to reuse. DS was 3 when we got ours and he was fine with putting it away for next Xmas. Ours is a Xmassy one though. He might not have been so keen if it was cars!

stinkymonkey · 09/10/2008 09:38

I just looked on ebay and you can get a police manhunt advent calendar - what in the name of effin' hell is Christmassy about that?

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 09/10/2008 19:45

Does anyone else have the Playmobil Christmas Tree Decorations?

LazyLinePainterJane · 09/10/2008 19:52

ahem.....WHAT?

Can you repeat.....playmobil christmas tree decorations!!!!???!?!? Are you sure these exist? or is it a cruel taunt?

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 09/10/2008 21:04

Oh, but they do exist. Sorry, did consider selling mine on ebay, hence me asking, to see if I could make some money from them. Obviously yes, would be the answer. However having floated the idea past DH, DD is only 2 and therefore not attracted to Playmobil yet, he pretty much threatened me with divorce if I so much as thought about selling them.

So you can be a Playmobill fan even at the age of 30!

SuperBunny · 09/10/2008 21:07

I wnat the tree decorations

LazyLinePainterJane · 09/10/2008 21:26
Hulababy · 09/10/2008 21:28

Where is best place to buy? DD wants the princessy type one.

trixymalixy · 09/10/2008 21:36

Do you think a nearly 2 year old is too young for a playmobil advent calendar.

i want one!!!

trixymalixy · 09/10/2008 21:36
