“Main presents” for my kids 6 and 3

Looking for “main” Christmas presents for my DD 6 and DS 3.
if you’re comments are negative please keep them to yourself because I’m looking for advice not criticism. My children are far from spoilt and more than deserve treats at this time of year.
my DD isn’t typically “into” anything.
my DS changes what he is “into”

I would wait until nearer the time as they might change their minds about what they want.

Budget? What about something for garden? Climbing frame? Wendy house?

Too early at this age to buy anything. I would just collect ideas. What do they both like doing?

Budget Maybe £200-300 for a main present for my DD and around £100-£200 for DS.

Things we’ve bought for ours over the years- Wendy house, play kitchen, climbing frame, goal posts, bikes

My now 5 year old was gifted magna tiles when he was 2. This is still his favourite go to toy and I will recommend to anyone

It’s hard because my children have elder cousins (by 1 year) who are very much spoilt with everything they get and although my DD does not complain or ask questions, I can see she is a little disheartened when she sees her cousins presents of a lot older than age appropriate than what she gets some times. I think her not saying anything makes it even worse!

Do they have summer birthdays or winter ones? If summer birthdays then you don't need to spend out on outdoor toys when they aren't really going to get to play with them for months. But if their birthdays are ALSO in winter then I second a pp who said climbing frame (we got one of the huge ones with a tent that goes on the top and a slide).

They’re brilliant those toys! We have had them twice over as they get lost! Even I enjoy those though

One is autumn one winter

One year we got the DC a swimming pool for the garden, one of those above ground ones as they were on sale as it's winter so nobody wanted them.
I think it was £100 then a filter as well

They could use it all summer and looked forward to putting it up but also they had so much from family around Christmas that it was nice to spread it out.

Anything to keep them active at that age is great if you have space in the garden you could do a climbing frame or tree house maybe

Really depends what they already have, bikes are always a good big present at those ages, or garden equipment if you have space.

For the 6 year old I’d go for a Lego 3in1 set, they seem to be good long term toys as they can take apart and build into different big Lego builds.

if the 3 year old is into duplo I’d suggest a hubelino marble run, ours has been really well used for years and they’re great quality.

I think it’s a bit early but would your DD have anything like a barbie dream house on her list? At that age DD loved (still does) lego friends but multiple smaller sets she could build and play with quickly than larger ones requiring a lot of patience. For your younger DS what about hot wheels and one of the ultimate garages?

Dd had a Barbie house at that age, she's also enjoyed a trampoline, keyboard, sylvanian bits, little live pets etc.

do they have a trampoline? That was always a good one. iPads? Scooters? Electric cars? We have always done a “main” present. We always hide them in the front room so the kids open all their presents and then there is a “big” one still to be had. Except the other year I put a note on the door with a rhyme basically saying there were three extra presents hidden so now every year I have to top that. Be careful 🤣

My daughter is just coming up to 6 so here's some birthday/Xmas gift ideas:

*k pop demon hunter dolls (this is looking like one of the top Xmas toys on lists coming out atm)

*k pop demon hunter bedding with a fleece throw and cushion.

*a pamper hamper with age appropriate makeup and nail varnish

*arts and crafts sets and sticker dress up doll type books (she seems to like jewellery making or ones involving collage/ fashion design type stuff)

*dolls or playsets are generally a win for this age. Popular dolls tend to be rainbow high, lol, barbie etc. Playsets things like polly pocket, sylvanian families

*scooter or bike or outdoor playstuff

*back packs or handbags. My daughter loves bags for stashing toys in or to go out on a girly day 😆

*hair accessories. Always handy as bobbles get lost a lot!

*age appropriate board games. Orchard toys are great for this.

*new colouring pens/paints

*any kind of surprise toys/ mystery boxes seem to be universally enjoyed by kids.

*slime sets if you're a slime household. I know some people are like heck no, which i was until recently lol.
