It’s hard to imagine a time when we’ll be snuggling under a throw with the fire on in the glow of twinkling Christmas tree lights! I will try and manifest a snowbound log cabin…while melting in this (currently 28) heat!

StrugglingwithIvanhoe · 25/06/2026 10:57

De-lurking to share that it's also my birthday today! My parents timed that well! Uphill to Christmas now. I already have a few things booked up but not sure what we'll be doing over actual Christmas yet.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/06/2026 11:04

Happy birthday, @StrugglingwithIvanhoe! 🥳

Oh I am so envious of the 25/6 birthday! Happy birthday to all whose birthdays are today.
New to this thread, I was on them several years ago but tailed off. Need to get back on it!

MoaningAboutTheWeather · 25/06/2026 12:35

Ahhh, you beat me to it @NoWordForFluffy 😆

When I woke up this morning and saw the date, I thought “Yahooo!” downhill to Christmas!
Oddly enough I was reading my old Good Housekeeping Christmas magazine from a couple of years back…it must have put the date in my head!

I keep all my old Christmas monthly magazines, always have done, some go back to 1992 - the fashions are worth a giggle!

🎄Merry June everyone! Not long now, 183 days to go! 🎄

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 25/06/2026 13:27

Excellent title Fluffy. It is far too hot here. Even my eyes feel like they are melting.

Gracesquirrel · 25/06/2026 13:44

Happy Birthday @StrugglingwithIvanhoe

Welcome back MoaningAboutTheWeather

Roll on a change in the weather I am so struggling and in pain with the humidity swelling all my joints - I've already had 4 showers today and will shortly go sit in front of a floor fan with my feet in a tub of cold water. My husband keeps giving me a "countdown" apparently its 4more hours until we allegedly pass the peak and it starts to level off and cool down... yeahhhh we shall see....

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 25/06/2026 17:43

After many years celebrating Christmas in the southern hemisphere the heat is reminding me of some of my favourite Christmas’s, 20+ people sat around a table with a dozen fans surrounding us white eating a roast in 40 degree heat….ahh good times 🥵🌲🥂

Xmas Grin love the Thread Title @NoWordForFluffy

DD has had a lovely relaxed birthday . Presents (of course) , cake , doing her nails with her new Nails Inc set .
We're going up to London tomorrow .
Right now we're doing a "Whitechapel" binge watch . It is an annual re-watch .

I saw the old thread was filling up so added some pictures

TheWoollybacksWife · 25/06/2026 19:44

Popping on to placemark. I'm not posting much on MN right now but didn't want to lose you all.

Melting 🥵

I have started gathering a few presents together but nothing significant yet.

We are postponing London till tomorrow , the trains are reduced and the Undergrounds will be like ovens .

I am already ahead on presents , I bought DD a Nails Inc set from QVC and there was an opt in for a second set (new colours) in two months . So in August I will have something for the Dec 1st Box .

London was busy , very hot .
We went to Borough Market , and Covent Garden . We decided any 'shopping' shopping needs to be done in a large shopping mall with air-con and decent toilets .

Lots of dogs in those chill vests .

It's dogs' paws at risks (as well as general heatstroke). Vests won't help with the paws. Idiot owners!

I have done nothing for Christmas this week. We are still in birthday season!

July next Weds. 🤯

Checking in on the new thread. Have posted a photo on the old one too - I left LO alone for 2 mins and the Grinch was on when I got back Xmas Grin

I was contemplating a new Christmas name for the new thread but the post burnout fuzziness is ongoing and I couldn’t think of any I liked.

DH is away so I’m alone this weekend. We’ve done clubs, shopping, park, a walk and some playing in the garden. I’m praying that makes LO exhausted as bedtime has been a battle the last few days.

Weather is apparently cooling although we still got 27° today. I’m fed up of being a sweaty mess 🥵

I had a vague thought about possible Christmas presents for LO and DH but I didn’t come up with any good ideas and have abandoned it for now. It’s too hot for Christmas <never said that before Xmas Shock >

FurForksSake · 27/06/2026 18:37

One Hundred and Eighty (said in a Russ Bray voice )

It is mellower today , so a chance to do something vaguely active !
I've made a batch of overnight oats ( deciding how to spruce them up a bit for next week) and there's a batch of pizza dough in the breadmaker .

Later today might finish up tidying in the garden , (If I'm not flumped in a chair )

NoWordForFluffy · 28/06/2026 17:07

Afternoon!

I've not been massively productive today. We had a lovely lie in as the weather has cooled enough to mean I didn't have to get up stupidly early to take the dog out.

I have done some impromptu weeding in the back garden (the front needs doing really, but meh!). I've also filled in DS' DLA renewal, which I really should've got to sooner, but never mind.

I need to clean the top floor bathroom still, but that won't take hugely long. I'm making curry for dinner, but will do that when DH takes the dog out.

Poor FluffyDog had a massive sneezing fit earlier. Can only assume he got something up his nose earlier which then needed to come out. Poor boy was less than impressed by it all!

Love a sporting reference countdown number. Not long til a snooker one! Xmas Grin

Absolutely not productive at all here. DH isn’t back until tonight and Lo’s sleep has been all over the place.
spent the morning having cuddles/breakfast/chat in bed, then did the food shopping before coming to my mums for dinner and we’re still here.
LO asked if he could have his bath here as he thinks DM’s bathroom is fancy (it’s not but it has a seperate shower and bath) so he’s currently singing in there while I chill a bit.

Am planning a potential power nap when we get home as I have a migraine coming. Have done the meds and caffeine thing and hoping a solid 30 mins will stop it dead

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/06/2026 21:50

Eurgh , I hate a migraine Meeces . I used to suffer them , they're not "just a bad headache" , people who have never had them don't appreciate .
Mine were like someone using a loop of wire and tightening it to remove the top of my skull at the same time poking a skewer into my eye . The only thing to end it was when I vomited but it had to be in its own time , not forced
Never found a trigger . Chocolate , menstrual cycle, lights, driving. No pattern.
Dehydration and coffee deprivation is a different headache .
Had my wisdom teeth out with improved things 100%
Had a daith piercing with are reputed to help . Don't know if there's any truth but I love the daith Xmas Grin

Went to Bluewater as we were too knackered for Oxford Street yesterday .
Got some nice things so happy with that except the nightmare roundabout going onto the M25 . It's either clear or a car park . Today is was pile on, ignore the traffic lights , cut across , blast the horn (other drivers not me obvs)
Then there's a massive Free For All Yellow Box Junction .

Into the hundred-and-seventies Xmas Grin
Monday , (again) they come around so much quicker than Fridays .

Nothing festive going on here . I need to go to Costco this week , they won't have their Christmas / "Holidays" stock till September but I'm going for binbags and vanilla extract amongst other regular things .

NoWordForFluffy · 29/06/2026 19:04

Afternoon!

I've been on admin detail for the parents today, as well as working. Lots of spinning plates going on.

The weather has kindly given me a bit of a sicky headache (not a migraine, thankfully) with the pressure change, so it's all been a bloody struggle.

I have made fish pie for dinner though, so that will be rather pleasing shortly!

Helloooooo

Gosh missed so much and there's a new thread!!

I think I actually just melted away to nothing for a week or so, really hate the heat unless I am by the sea. Also been having the sticky headaches.

Lovely to see all the Christmas stuff. I was at work today and suddenly started thinking about Christmas pudding 🤔.

I still have last years mini Christmas Puddings in the pantry ( or might be year before !)

I have been thinking about doing Christmas Cakes , I always like the idea then the cake sits judgily in the kitchen getting moved from worktop to table and back.
But ................... my cunning plan this year is to make miniature ones using baked bean tins (small ones) as a tin, lined with parchment and covered in brown paper .
I could freeze some to have later and decorate some for Christmas , they'd get eaten quicker .
Goes off to ponder recipes ....
