I need to buy about four packets. Price no object! Must be supermarket, M&S etc. We had M&S last year and they went down well, can they be bettered in your view?

Home made are better, or from a decent butchers. Is that a possibility?

IceIceSlippyIce · 20/12/2025 14:28

Yep, best butchers thin sausages and streaky bacon. Wrap them yourself.

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/12/2025 14:29

Aldi (pork and venison versions)

RedToothBrush · 20/12/2025 14:47

Honestly.

Streaky bacon. Get some nice sausages. Do your own. Much much better.

Mine are in the freezer.

CraftyGin · 20/12/2025 14:50

Make your own. Two ingredients. 10 minutes for 36.

‘Must be supermarket’. Three out of four answers - ‘make them yourself’ 😂.

I’m giving Sainsbury’s a bash OP and will also pick up a packet from Aldi no doubt (local to me).

That's cos the ready made ones just aren't worth it and its one of the few things that genuinely is piss easy and quick to do.

If you want nice ones just do this! It's cheaper too.

Jolly Hog (Tesco or Sainsburys) or M&S

xmasstress12 · 20/12/2025 15:03

I’ve had M&S, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, like them all.

Anonomoso · 20/12/2025 15:10

I'm using Tesco finest again this year.

Soontobe60 · 20/12/2025 15:15

Of all the ready made Christmas foods, pigs in blankets is one I’ve never even considered! Over the last couple of months I’ve picked up a few packets of decent sausages from M+S that are reduced and bunged them in the freezer. A family sized pack of food quality thin sliced bacon, jar of mustard and bobs your uncle. I’ve got enough for around 72 delicious PIBs, at a total cost of around £5. I’ll be prepping them on Tuesday -can’t wait! Ps, I also use PIBs to make Toad in the Hole and freeze cooked ones to use cold as sandwich fillings.
Just checked - a 10 pack of Tesco Finest are selling for £3.50.

I made pigs in blankets for years.

Turns out I much prefer supermarket ones! I like M and S and Waitrose.

MouldyCandy · 20/12/2025 15:53

They were on offer in my M&S today. Can't vouch for the taste yet tho.

mondaytosunday · 20/12/2025 16:00

I got Tesco Finest pigs n blankets and their normal range - the latter was better. Are they the best? No idea. We are getting some from the butchers this year. His bacon is amazing.

CoastalCalm · 20/12/2025 16:01

A lot of the supermarket ones seem to use smoked bacon so we make our own with chipolatas and streaky bacon

mondaytosunday · 20/12/2025 16:03

Just googled Good Housekeeping’s winner this year and it was Aldi’s Specially Selected double wrapped pigs n blankets.

MorrisZapp · 20/12/2025 21:30

Thanks everyone! I believe wholeheartedly that your home made pigs are the best, but I'll be buying mine 😊

I do just about everything from scratch (have to due to a family member having a cow's milk allergy and butter being in just about everything) but pigs in blankets is the one thing I can get away with buying pre-prepared so I do. We like Sainsburys best.

FrangipaniBlue · 20/12/2025 21:43

We had some Tesco finest ones today (from the fresh fridge not frozen) and we all said they’re the best ones we’ve had!

It literally took me 5 minutes to wrap the bacon around the sausages, they’re in the freezer ready for Christmas. If you don’t want to do them is there a partner or child that can do them? You won’t regret it.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 20/12/2025 22:08

Sainsbury's butchers choice ones are tasty. On nectar offer atm.

But I am doing my own with their equivalent chipolata divided in two with streaky bacon. My 10yr old's favourite job!

TheDogsMother · 20/12/2025 22:10

I’ve been buying M& S and they are great.
