I think 23yo Dd would enjoy one of these. Does anyone have recommendations as to brands please? There are loads out there!

Has she tried diamond painting? My dd prefers this to traditional painting by numbers, as the result is better and she says it’s more relaxing.

No she hasn't. Off to Google I go...

Schipper are by far the best I've painted

I like DIY art club. It is quite addictive :)

My DH bought me one last year . It looked fab but in reality was really hard on the eyesight as some of it was tiny, plus the lighter colours didn’t cover up the numbers. So not great!

I do a lot of painting by numbers, I find it very relaxing. You can't tell a picture was done by painting by numbers when it's finished, so if you want to you can hang it up and tell people you painted it yourself, and they'll think you're a talented artist. 😉

My favourite brand is Schipper. They are a bit more expensive than other brands, but they come supplied with all the paint colours you need, you don't have to mess around mixing colours together. They sell them on Amazon.

I’ve had a few from Paint By Numbers Kits UK - they do personalised ones where you submit a photo and receive a paint by numbers of it! We often get ones of family pets etc and I think it’s much nicer than a random picture and they turn out great, we get lots of compliments on ours hung on the wall!

I had a Reeves one years ago which was great. I like the ones where you mix some colours as it gives a greater range of colours and means you don't have thousands of little pots. It also "feels" more like doing art if that makes sense.

DS1 got me a Figured'Art one a couple of years ago and I'm less keen on it as it just looks very patchy and obviously like a PBN painting whereas the Reeves one somehow seemed less like this? Better designed perhaps rather than being automatically generated by a computer, which I suspect a lot of the larger brands are now. I will hold off on full judgement until I actually finish it but that's my feeling at the moment - I've painted most of the background so far.

Based in the Netherlands though so won’t arrive for Christmas.

Amazon has lots of painting my numbers kits. My DD15 likes to do them.

That I didn't know. I would normally get them 1 week or so after the order.

I looked at Schipper, looks nice. Do they come on stretched canvas? It is not clear from the descripton.

No, it's a rigid cardboard with a canvas-like texture.
