Sorry if it’s been done - I love a foodie thread!

Breakfast - sourdough toast and marmalade, mini cereal boxes for the kids. Nice coffee and juice.

Lunch - For us this year we are having as a starter blinis with caviar or antipasti meats, melon for DD

Roast turkey, roast potatoes, honey roast carrots and parsnips, sautéed sprouts with butter and leeks, stuffing balls (sage and onion and sausage meat), pigs in blankets, bread sauce, peas, cranberry sauce, turkey gravy, red cabbage.

dessert - choice of chocolate log, lemon cheesecake or almond and cherry tart with ice cream or cream.

In the evening cold cuts, cheese, crackers, usual grazing bits.

What are you all having?

baubletime · 14/12/2025 20:40

Breakfast will likely be bacon and eggs with sourdough toasted, coffee and orange juice.

Lunch will be turkey, ham, veg, pigs n blankets, roast potatoes, gravy, stuffing etc. I also have a Yule log on order but not sure it will be eaten then.

From 3 ish we have family over and I will do crisps, dips, party food, cheese board and pizza, washed down with plenty of champagne, wine, beer and gin.

No Yorkshire puddings? 🫠

We’re doing:

Breakfast - mini pain au chocolats/pastries baked from frozen so they’re fresh, with fruit salad and lots of coffees

Lunch - Quorn roast, nut roast, pigs in blankets and Turkey slices for the sole carnivore 😂 roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, honey roasted parsnips and carrots, Brussels, peas, cranberry sauce, and lots of gravy 😋

Evening - cheeseboards and a Yule log

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/12/2025 16:02

Breakfast
Bacon or smoked salmon bagels.

Lunch.
Beef, lamb roast potatoes, mash, sprouts, honey roasted carrots and parsnips, pigs in
blankets and Yorkshire puddings with gravy.

Pudding.
Gateaux or cheesecake.

GreenGodiva · 15/12/2025 16:08

Home made cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

prawn cocktail for starters for those that want it. Then roast lamb and/or roast pork. Roasties, carrot and swede with ton of butter and pepper. Sprouts, honey roast parsnips , spiced red cabbage. Home made puss in blankets, home made sausage meat stuffing balls. Yorkshires. Loads of gravy and sauces to go with the meat.

pudding. not even thought about it yet. probably a a fancy cheese cake and a gateaux? Cooking for 12 I think this year so not as busy as normal and should be really chilled out. I’ve done so many Christmas dinners and roasts that it doesn’t even really raise my heartbeat. I could do it in my sleep. I do enjoy cooking though.

TiredofLDN · 15/12/2025 16:10

Breakfast -

pan au chocolates, bacon rolls, smoked salmon blinis, fresh fruit. Tea, coffee and bucks fizz (not everyone will want the same thing!)

Lunch -

Selection of bruschetta with moon blush tomatoes, gambas pil pil and pate

Roast turkey with goose fat roast potatoes, Delia red cabbage, sprouts with pancetta, glazed carrots and parsnips, broccoli (for those who hate sprouts), stuffing and pigs in blankets, gravy

Chocolate orange cheesecake, or Christmas pudding, or ice cream with toppings

Dinner -

if anyone wants - cold roast ham, leftovers, cheeseboard, Christmas cake, biscuits for the kids

It sounds like a lot, but catering for varied tastes, and not everyone will want everything, so more about everyone having the options really

Lots of people on MN insist that yorkshire puddings are only for beef, apparently forgetting that veggies and vegans exist.

Breakfast- build your own bagels type situation- smoked salmon, cream cheese, avocado etc. Coffee and bucks fizz

Lunch- turkey for meat eaters (fake turkey and stuffing thing I got from Sainsburys weeks ago and shoved in the freezer for me), sprouts in butter and leeks, maple glazed carrots and parsnips, cauliflower cheese, spiced red cabbage, peas, yorkshires, roasties, stuffing, pigs in blankets (both meat and veggie types). Christmas pudding, mince pies and brandy butter, yule log.

Dinner- cheeseboard, picking at leftovers, Pringles and quality street

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 15/12/2025 16:20

Breakfast will probably be a bacon sandwich. Christmas dinner is, well, turkey, roast potatoes, chestnut stuffing, PIBs and all the veg, and we have Christmas pudding, mince pies (adult dd is making those) or Yule log, then in the evening probably turkey sandwiches with some salad and whatever else is lying about. Maybe some nice cheese.

Justcallmedaffodil · 15/12/2025 16:22

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 15/12/2025 16:58

Im impressed with the meat breakfasts! I'm not sure I could face a sausage first thing knowing I was having a big meaty lunch.

canapés: smoked salmon blinis
lunch: turkey crown, stuffing, carrots, minted peas, yorkies, beef ribs, beef gravy, turkey gravy, vegan mini roast thing, pigs, veggie gravy, roasties,
(mad amount of gravy when I have written it down)
pudding: choc log, cheese cake, ice cream, Christmas pudding, cream.

evening: cheese board, crackers, chutney (this is my fave bit actually! when it's all calm again and you can pick at a good board...)

exhausting just thinking about it....

Pig in blankets
Yorkshires that may be from a packet.
Roast potatoes and parsnips.
Green beans, carrots, broccoli

Don't usually have pudding or any other meals on Xmas day or boxing day. Just cram in a few chocolates!

Cerialkiller · 15/12/2025 17:07

Tongue, pie and chutneys for breakfast with fresh baked almond croissants for the people who married on and don't appreciate our Victorian traditions!

(Late) Lunch will be a lighter then usual as there's only 9 eating this year. Stuffed chicken, bread sauce, red cabbage, pigs in blankets, two types of stuffing, roasties, cranberry sauce, gravy, roast parsnips, sprouts.

Pudding is trifle, chocolate rulard and Christmas cake. All homemade.

Dinner is leftover sandwiches. Followed by port, homemade eggnog, hot chocolate or Bellini's.

pudding- mix of hot brownies with a nice ice cream for children, M&S stick toffee trifle or sticky toffee pudding and custard

evening- cheeseboards, cold meats, ? Festive loaded potatoes and picky bits - Costco carrot cake to snack on with lots of M&S chocs

pudding - Yule log or mince pies

Tea: lunch leftovers, cheese, chutney, fruit and crackers. More Yule log and mince pies.

gogomomo2 · 15/12/2025 17:12

For breakfast I have sour dough bread, wilted spinach, sauté mushrooms, cream cheese (also vegan cream monstrosity) and thick cut smoked salmon - depending on dietary choices you have the bits you want, I like spinach, salmon and cream cheese piled onto toasted thick cut sourdough that’s been generously buttered.

lunch is full turkey roast with stuffing, potatoes, sweet potatoes, parsnips, roasted carrots, mashed swede, red cabbage in red wine with juniper, Brussels, cauliflower cheese and peas for the fussy one. Oh and some sort of meat free think, mum has sourced it. Christmas pudding or some sort of creamy thing mum has sourced for pudding.

When I was a kid I YEARNED for those mini cereal packets like nothing else. I was only ever allowed them once a year. It's Christmas. Give them what they want.

Repeating last year’s somewhat controversial decision of having the full Christmas dinner for Christmas Eve - beef, yorkies, roasties and veg. Then Christmas Day will be American pancakes with bacon, fruit and maple syrup, with cold meats and cheese and chocolate and cakes for the rest of the day.

I didn’t agree at first when OH suggested it last year but it worked so well - no one stuck in the kitchen cooking all day! - that I think we’re going to make it our new tradition
