How much to spend

On a close friends present. They’re staying over for Christmas. I’m really bad at buying presents for adults. I normally try to go by a range of what others have gifted me, but this friend sometimes gifts small gifts and other times massively expensive. She earns well and owns a lot of luxury stuff so anything I think she’ll like is £100+. I do not earn a lot, but this friend has massively helped me with childcare over the years.

What can you afford and what do they like?

Buy them a voucher for afternoon tea

Start with your budget. Your actually hosting so really a smaller present is perfectly acceptable. Why does she enjoy? What are.her interests? Don't overspend, she really wouldn't want or expect you to. No friend would.

Probably maximum £100. She likes fashion and art (making not artworks), but I fear buying clothes/bags as they have a very different style to me.

Actually realistically I would stretch to that for the right present, but around £50 is probably more fitting with my finances.

A posh hamper? Maybe something she would like? F&M although at £80 would be the minimum.

Stick to £50 if that is what is comfortable.

A bottle of Chapel Down fizz and some laduree chocolates.

If she likes makeup, Dior do free personalisation, so a lipgloss, lipstick, or eye palette (neutrals) tends to go down well.

A Trudon candle and a glass candle cloche from Habitat or John Lewis.

If she is into wellness, a v posh bottle of Olive Oil. Have a look at The Governor Olive Oil.

PJs/Dressing gown in a nice, natural fibre - White Company sale?

Fortnum and Mason do a bottle of white/red for about £15, which looks lovely in their gift wrap. Add some posh chocs/biscuits.
