Little potatoes roasted with bacon lardons and onion. You can keep them hot in a slow cooker.

A cheese board is quick and easy, add some grapes to gussy it up.

Insalate Caprese - slices of mozzarella and tomato with fresh basil leaves and basalmic dressing.

Flatbreads

King prawn skewers
Coleslaw

We always do an epic cheeseboard. So easy especially if doing last minute present wrapping and prep etc when the kids are in bed!

Throw in a couple sausage roll wreaths and festive looking deserts, profiterole tower, Christmas cake etc and it'll look Christmasy.

Thanks everyone! Some great ideas. I’m trying to get away with the least amount of prep.

I’d love what you are doing already. Just needs something fresher to complement it - coleslaw as already mentioned, a bowl of cherry tomatoes, cucumeber wedges.
Trifle for dessert? Festive but not that difficult to make.
I love things like mince pies, stollen, Lebkuchen but am always too stuffed to enjoy them on Christmas Day. Christmas Eve would be a good time for these sorts of Christmas goodies.

Saw this pimped up hummus idea on BBC this morning. I’m definitely stealing it but going to keep it simpler than the recipes shown in the clip…perhaps swirling 2 different tubs of different hummus together (not mixing but kind of loosely swirling together) in an attractive open shallow dish, topping with chopped sun-dried tomatoes, toasted flaked almonds, torn feta, snipped spring onions etc
Drizzled with olive oil and black pepper.

Using shop-bought hummus as a base you can have a seriously impressive starter or nibble on the table in under 10 minutes.

PS re coleslaw I do a home made cheat’s version. Buy a prepared kit, all the major supermarkets sell them, it’s basically the chopped up cabbage/carrot mix with a sachet of mayo.

Then I do the easy bit by adding more salad cream (controversial), more mayo, some whole grain mustard, chopped up spring onions.
