Hi just wondering which game(s) you have bought your 9/10yr olds or what games they have enjoyed playing this year.

we bought her a switch last year for Christmas along with Animal crossing but she wasn’t really interested in it. She uses her switch to play fall guys online which she loves and she occasionally plays some cooking game we got her (forgot what it is called) but I’d really like to get her one she’ll love this year but as a non gamer the choice is overwhelming!

I have a nine year old boy so not sure they would like the same thing but I'd say Mario kart or Minecraft would be good bets with universal appeal. Mario kart if you have more than one controller so you can play together.

Mario kart, just dance and FC26 are well played with in this house

Wobbly life. It's so stupid but my 9 and 10 year olds love it

My dd(8) currently plays Let’s Build a Zoo, Rollercoaster Tycoon and Little Friends: Dogs & Cats

Just Dance is a perfect game for non-gamers

This is a great thread! If she enjoys fun, easy-to-pick-up games, you could also look into some casual racing titles. My kid cousins love driving-style games because they’re simple and exciting without being too complicated. Recently I was reading about extreme car driving simulator unlimited money all cars unlocked and similar beginner-friendly racing experiences, and they seem pretty popular with this age group. Something in that style might be a good fit for her if she likes fast, playful games.

My son uses his mainly for Minecraft, Fortnite and FC25.

I like Mario kart and tennis. I week or so a go i was checking the cupboard and found Mario Odassey that he and I forgot he owned.
I was thinking Mario Jamboree for this year.

Based on my own experience, Luigi’s mansion 3 has been the most played game by my similar aged dc. It’s a bit scary at times but a really good game.

JelKelly · 03/12/2025 07:49

Oh and Mario party is great fun

Shambles123 · 03/12/2025 15:10

Mario Kart and variations.

The olympics one.

My son footy obsessed so the most recent FIFA he has tends to be the one played the most.

Mario kart! It's a crime to own a Nintendo console and not have the game. It's so much fun (and I'm not much of a gamer).

What is your DD into generally?

Rainbow898 · 04/12/2025 06:43

Thanks all. I think we’ll probably go with Mario Karts. We have the Crash Bandicoot racing game on the PlayStation which I assume is a similar concept & she was really into that when we first got it a few years ago.

This is the one my 9yo requested for this year!
