Can I tap into your knowledge please? I use my phone, a lot! I can definitely feel my eyesight is worse on a heavy usage day. This morning I suddenly thought Kindle, that's what he can get me for Christmas.

Crikey, they have gone up in price since I last had one;

Can you help me out on what to buy
and remind me about a few things please?
Can I only read Kindle books on it? I sometimes read e books from the library on borrowbox.
Can I have a quick peep at an internet site/my emails on a kindle?
Which one would you suggest?

Any advice gratefully received so I can pass the suggestion to my DH and he might still get some Black Friday discount.

TIA

i have a paper white so you can read without a light on, I subscribe to kindle unlimited but there are other sites with v cheap/free books, you can also access library books/magazines etc I think…

I have a Paperwhite too. The screen is lightly illuminated so you can read in the dark, but it's much easier on the eyes than an iphone. You can't check messages/internet but that's fine as I've got my phone for that.

I have a Kobo Clara. It let's you borrow ebooks from your library via the Overdrive/Libby app. I used to have a Kindle and barely used it because I didn't want to buy books, especially not from Amazon. Since I got the Kobo, my reading has exploded and is nearly 50% digital.

I have a Kindle Paperwhite and a Kobo Libra - I never use my Kindle though because I can get free library books on my Kobo. I have my phone for internet/email things.

Kobo is the one to get if you want to borrow from your library.

Have had Kobo's for about 15 years. Love them, sometimes buy books from the Kobo store but mostly borrow from the library. Use my phone for audiobooks (both library and audible as my library choice is poor)

Kindle is useless for library borrowing. I have a samsung tablet that I have the kindle app on as well as Libby and Borrowbox. Haven't used my actual kindle in years.

Thanks so much. Off to look at Kobos.
