Can anyone help me with some simple coordinating ideas for Christmas tableware. DS's girlfriend coming to stay for the first time and would like to put a little extra effort in. We usually go to other family or have quite a few with us whereas this year it's just us 5 so want to make it special and more "adult " looking.
We have a solid pine table so feel it needs a table cloth. Our plates are white with a silver rim. Not keen on big central decorations as we tend to have serving bowls on the table. Thinking possibly white table cloth, silver runner (with subtle stars), silver plate changers & napkin rings..
With some small arrangements along the middle with greenery/berries etc. Not keen on candles as they don't get lit at lunchtime anyway.
Would this work or look a bit much. Wondering if a red runner would look warmer. I'm not especially creative so any ideas would be welcome.

Sounds lovely! With silver rimmed plates, I think a white, silver and green theme works for colours. Careful of berries in decoration in case they get eaten!
I’m the same, I’d love to have centrepieces and candles but the table is entirely crammed with food in heaped serving dishes ❤️❤️❤️

Sounds more like NYE than Christmas with all the silver. It's quite a cold colour/metal. I think either a red or green runner would look more cosy.

A white tablecloth is fine, or a sheet if you need. I would add dark green placemats to separate the white cloth and the white plates. Your silver napkin rings will look lovely.

If you put your napkins across the plate, green napkins, if you put them beside the plate then white. Have a look on fb marketplace for someone selling Granny’s old napery.
