Looking for 3d pen recommendations please

My mum has decided she wants to get my 8 (nearly 9) year old a 3d pen for christmas. Naturally it now falls down to me to source, buy and wrap it.
The choice is overwhelming. Can anyone please recommend one at all?
Many thanks.

Would love to know what you go with; literally in the same situation!

My son got this one for his birthday and loves it, just looked and it’s on a discount atm.

i recommend getting a pack of extra filaments too as the ones that come with it won’t last very long

I have a 3d printer and scanner (a few yrs old now) and only recently learned about 3d pens.
Though I have no recommendation for you at this time, I hope your child has a fantastic time making stuff.
Being able to create my own figures/toys/parts from the ground up has satisfied an itch that for years I couldn't scratch.

I know this might sound very Scrooge, but with all of the awareness of using plastics, why is it so cheap to buy a pen like this to create things which will end up in the bin?

I get the 3D printer idea to make spare parts and things, but a pen seems a bit against the current drive to avoid plastic. You can't even buy hummus with a lid these days, never mind get a plastic straw.

Don't get me wrong, I know there are millions of plastic gifts being given this year. I'm a fan of Temu for crafting things and of fast fashion from Tiktok shop. My DC had every plastic toy going, I think! I quite like the idea of one of those pens, too.

Not sure what I'm trying to say, but if these are cheaply available then please bring back hummus lids, stop attaching bottle lids to bottles and ffs, please let's have a plastic straw in our slushie drinks in the cinema!
