Shop bought versus making own mincemeat

I love baking and make mince pies every year and they are delicious, but I feel a bit of a fraud as I buy the mincemeat from the shop.

Taste wise, which is best, shop bought or home made mince meat? If it’s make your own, please recommend a recipe.

I buy a good quality mincemeat and,about 3/4 days before making them empty out the jar , add a few handfuls of mixed fruit some chopped glace cherries , some chopped almonds , some chopped apricots and a good glug of brandy give it a good stir cover the bowl in cling film and stir it daily until using , you can often add more brandy if the mixed fruit has soaked it up .
