Console?

We have never had any type of video console but my two daughters (14 and 12) love playing “fifa” on friends Xboxes. I’m considering getting them an x box… but then thinking the switch could be better because it’s got more active games - eg) the sports games. My worry is the graphics for fifa (FC) are worse on the switch and they might be disappointed compared to realistic x box version.

Any thoughts please? We aren’t a gaming family, and I’m completely clueless. I don’t want them becoming addicted to gaming but it would be nice for them to play 20 mins now and again!

Don't buy the switch for 14 and 12 year olds. It's seen more of a kiddie console.

If go for Xbox or ps5. We're a PlayStation house but if friends have got Xbox that's what I'd get as not all games support cross-platform game play and they'll miss out.

If they're used to play on an Xbox then get an Xbox. I don't understand why people immediately go to a switch when they think consoles for kids.

Thank you both! I think I’m worried about the addictive thing - and thought the sport/puzzle games on the switch might be less addictive! Will think about the x box.

I understand, but if they like playing FIFA then they're not going to jump to sports. I've multiple different consoles and I like what I like on them. If they have active lives in general then it's unlikely they'll get addicted. Short term it'll be a pull but it evens out.

They're useful when it's nasty outside. You could have a shot yourself.

Definately PS5 or xbox for that age. We got rid of our switches. My 8yr old niece just got one. We are a PS5 house too, but best sticking to what most friends have

We got an Xbox as the range of games was better and covered a range that we liked. I generally recommend getting an older (last gen) console as the game catalogue will be bigger or check if the newer machine is backwards compatable.

I would see what kind of games they like. Look up some titles then choose the console based on that.

We are currently running a PS3 (Minecraft and skyrim) N64 (crash bandicoot) a switch (Pokémon) but also have the latest Xbox for various modern releases.
