DS1(6) has decided he's really into Minecraft and that all he wants for Christmas is Minecraft. He's played it about 4 times in his life so it's very much him liking it because his friends do, which I accept is common at his age! Beyond the game itself, are they any things that are actually fun? While there's a crazy amount of merchandise available it seems mostly decorative. We were in the Lego shop and none of the sets really appealed to him. The unofficial magnetic blocks look like the kind of thing he'd enjoy, but I'd be happier if they were produced by a known company as he has a younger brother that still puts things in his mouth and I'm wary of magnets.

He does have access to the actual game, but pretty limited screen time and he's been choosing watching TV over playing it.

I can think of loads of things he'd actually enjoy that aren't related to Minecraft, but I do feel if it ends up being his Christmas list (and I'm hoping it changes) that there should be some sort of fun present for him to open in the morning that relates to it.

They have the Minecraft movie figures in smyths so if he enjoys things like that then it’ll be a good present ☺️

My eldest ds who is 7 loves Minecraft. He has the switch game . We've also got him lots of the toys / figures and Lego sets from smyths . I think some of them are reduced at the moment . He has recently asked for one of the lamps for his bedroom .

Next stock a hooded sweat shirt with Minecraft logo

And pants too I think

There’s a Minecraft version of the brilliant board game Labyrinth.

AuntieDen · 31/10/2025 12:44

the llama pinata? (make sure its the actual minecraft version not the tescos one!)

Thanks for the suggestions! Looks like Smyths is the way to go. I'll suggest the board game and clothes to some other family members who will inevitably ask me for some suggestions.

My Ds has a Minecraft block light.

My son loved the Minecraft series of books but he would have been a bit older. There was even a book of (bad) jokes

My DS loved the Minecraft Fox nightlight. Smyths sells the little metal Minecraft figures. The water bottle would be a good stocking filler too. Mine also liked the plastic sword at that age. Next usually sell Minecraft socks.

BakewellGin1 · 02/11/2025 08:01

I got DS the nano metal figures and 'world' from smyths he makes up little adventures with them

Ive been looking for the block sets too so will keep eye on thread and also get back to you if I find any decent ones

Boymummy321 · 02/11/2025 08:23

Not technically minecraft, but we have a few sets similar to this, bit pricey as 100 pcs set doesn’t feel like enough, but they are good fun and a nice alternative to screen time https://amzn.eu/d/f9wfbpB

Minecraft Lego is a big hit for my Minecraft obsessed child

Juneey · 02/11/2025 19:42

The magnetic “Minecraft” cubes from Amazon. Huge hit in our house with DS 6

DGS loves Minecraft and has asked for a book on redstone use. You can also get books that show you how to build things like temples.
