Dd has asked for perfume for christmas. What perfumes are trending around that age group? We did go to boots to have a smell and try a few but she was a bit overwhelmed by the choice. Looking for something light .

What's your budget?
I like the pink Gucci flora which is quite light but it's not the cheapest.
I saw this in boots this week and thought it was very good value it was a little bit floral and fruity, it's the kind of perfume I liked when I was younger, the bottle is cool and it's half price.

If budget allows, Miss Dior is popular with teens.

IggyAce · 25/10/2025 10:27

Pop into Next they have a good selection of their own branded perfumes plus most have a Victoria Secret which do fragrances and that brand is popular with teens.
When dd was a teen (now 18) she liked the following:
Vera wang Princess
Brittany Spears (pink bottle)
Ariana Grande sweet like candy & cloud
Next Just Pink which is apparently a dupe for Miss Dior.

Lonemumallthetime · 25/10/2025 10:29

What about the Zara perfumes, reasonable and great dupes. Or those Sol Janeiro ones? These seem to be the rage at my DDs school

HolidayHappy123 · 25/10/2025 10:43

Marc Jacobs perfumes are lovely. Not too heavy for a teen with cute bottles.

Prestonpope · 25/10/2025 10:43

My DD14 likes Sol De Janeiro (yellow bottle) and Ariana Grande - she got a set of small bottles last year.
Her slightly older sister likes Miss Dior.

Prestonpope · 25/10/2025 10:44

Oh, Victoria Secret body sprays are very nice too.

PflumPfeffer · 25/10/2025 10:47

Daisy by Marc Jacobs or Princess by Vera Wang are both light and fresh.

ProfessionalWhimsicalSkidaddler · 25/10/2025 10:48

DD is 14. She has a lot of Victoria secret sprays which are quite expensive. She also has the Sol de janeiro ones which are available with a small discount from lookfantastic. She has also stolen my Armani she which I’m annoyed about. She only just turned 14 and I think very shortly she will be moving to the more expensive ones.

Nectarines · 25/10/2025 10:49

Zara has lovely perfumes. My teen loves them and the smaller bottles are about £15

OSTMusTisNT · 25/10/2025 10:53

And there was me feeling so grown up with my bottle of Tribe at that age 😂.

Would definitely recommend Zara, maybe look for miniature bottles in a nice gift box?

RightOnTheEdge · 25/10/2025 11:00

It's my daughter's birthday soon and I've got her Ghost Sweetheart.

Other perfumes she's really liked are Vera Wang Princess, Tommy Girl and an Ariana Grande one that was in a little round bottle.

The Next perfumes are really good and don't cost a fortune, especially if they are used a lot every day.

Some of her friends wear the Sol de Janeiro ones.

CountryMouse22 · 25/10/2025 11:01

I remember Avon 'Pretty Peach'!

Showerflowers · 25/10/2025 11:06

The Ariana grande perfumes have been a hit with my teens

Ohjoyohbliss · 25/10/2025 11:09

Agree with PPs, Sol de Janeiro or Ariana Grande.

Gintime74 · 25/10/2025 11:58

Thanks all, they are a great help. She has the victoria secret body spray and wants to move to perfume. I used to love the little trial size sets when i was a teen so will look for something similar . My go to at her age was 'exclamation' I dont think they sell that anymore.

Victoria secret is all the rage with my DD and her friends.
She was also gifted some Vera Wang Princess which she likes

She is thinking of asking for Miss Dior for Christmas, which is a lovely one but pricey!

AlicePottery · 25/10/2025 12:08

Almost 16yo DD has been wearing YSL libre for a couple of years and it smells lovely.

Bright red bottle? I can remember that stuff and it was potent.

Personally I’d have a fun day out with her and go somewhere with a big stock of perfumes to try some out and get some advice. I’m old and only recently found out I like perfumes with Amber as the main scent and that’s certainly helped me going forward as most of the perfumes I come across, I don’t like. Now I can wheedle it down a bit going forward and there’s a couple I found that I particularly like.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/10/2025 12:14

I see things have moved on from Body Shop Tea Rose spray!

KellsBells7 · 25/10/2025 12:16

Agree you everyone else. Miss Dior, Sol de Janeiro and the Prada one in the triangle logo shape - can’t remember what it’s called.

Needlesnah · 25/10/2025 12:21

I got a Kayali sample set for mine, she loved it. We ended up getting a full size bottle for the next birthday/Christmas. Seems a lot of her friends have the brand. Also Billie eilish and definitely the Sol de Janeiro perfumes (you could get a sample set as they have a few).

OnionBag · 25/10/2025 14:22

And the Gold Billie Eilish perfume is popular with that age group too.

Lostuser · 25/10/2025 14:28

as PP have mentioned the celebrity ones, they are popular with the teens and I think are aimed at the younger market anyway in my opinion.

reluctantbrit · 25/10/2025 16:10

DD loved Arianna Grande ones and currently has the Sabrina Carpenter which looks like a large chocolate bar, it smells of caramel but not too sickly sweet, more like a warm scent.
