Ideas for DH’s Christmas stocking

We don’t usually do presents for each other as have been on a tight budget / getting out of debt / saving and this year want to be a bit more Christmasy so for fun are going to do each other Christmas stockings for the first time ever. So far I have a tin of milo, a gift set of mini gins and a bottle of fancy vanilla flavouring for coffee (all favourites DH has forgone for years due to tight budget) … I’d love some more ideas - remaining budget is £50

To fill up space: a Tshirt, a few packs of nice biscuits and a few unusual cans of craft ale/lager. McVities and Oreos usually do some Christmassy flavours like gingerbread etc. Sainsbury's does nice Florentines and cans of nice beer like Brewdog etc.

I love to go in the travel section in shops and buy mini toiletries to bulk out stockings

PenguinLover24 · 26/10/2025 19:13

I got my husband the new Pokémon game, never seen him so happy 😂 (gave him it early) for Christmas day I just have him his favourite chocolate and I found a 1% club quiz book in menkind (great shop for fun stuff!) which we will have a laugh playing on Christmas day!

Ireallywantadoughnut36 · 26/10/2025 19:17

For bulk what about a nice scarf or gloves/hat (my dh looks atrocious in a hat but he does like a nice scarf or gloves), fancy socks and pants also fall into that category. Nice bath stuff, beard oil if he has one. Chocolates. A favourite food. John lewis had some lovely christmassy "stuff" fancy chocolates, sweets, hot chocolates, liquers etc. Also any classic memories from childhood santa stockings he had (chocolate coins, an orange, nostalgic things he might appreciate).

ChocolateCinderToffee · 26/10/2025 19:24

If he's got a hairy face, beard bells or beard oil.
Gummi bears or similar
Mini lego
Christmas socks/boxers

Lastnightidreamtofmanderley · 26/10/2025 21:12

Love stockings! This year
graphite joiners pencils
keyboard cleaning putty
mouse for laptop
slate plant labels
Portable door alarm as works away a lot
chocolate orange with cover
chocolate coins
mini bottle of alcohol
travel aftershaves
Spoon rest
luggage scales

PermanentTemporary · 26/10/2025 21:15

I got a mini gym towel and a beanie with an LED light for ds from other stocking filler threads.

Years ago ds got me a coffee frother which has been great.

Socktopus socks

Jewelledslice · 26/10/2025 21:40

The ideas I have;

Posh hot chocolate for his velvetiser, maybe some marshmallows to go with.
Hot chilli's in some guise
A window bird feeder for his shed office
Paint brushes (he does little men wars)
More or Less card game
A giant bottle of ketchup

Many garnered from Mumsnet!

So far Diddly squat new book

A nightshirt (his shoulders get cold in the winter) but he's respectable walking around. It's so soft

Massage oil (you'll be the masseur)

A Gerber tool

A light at the end of a stick for finding stuff he's dropped in awkward spots like an engine or dark corner of the garage. Or an led light built into a beanie

Katflapkit · 26/10/2025 22:05

My DH's stocking has a t.shirt in his favourite colour, a sleep mask, a wallet ninja to keep in the car, a nice pair of socks and pair of pants with his favorite snack on them - it will just be a few more items

CarrieMoonbeams · 26/10/2025 22:06

DH is very keen on his car and motorbikes, so his advent bags (which we do instead of a stocking) include
a cordless handheld car vacuum
an endoscopy camera for fiddling around in the engine.
a bottle opener shaped like a penguin to keep in the garage. He doesn't drink alcohol but likes an alcohol free Peroni when he's playing working out there.

I've got him a couple of books, and a Jaws bath bomb, which I predict will be his favourite present! That's all I've got so far but he loves a selection of the little Japanese Kitkats and the glass bottles of juice with the marble in the top, so I'll get them nearer the time.

Thanks to the PP who mentioned the little Gerber tools, I think he'd love one of them .

Ear pod cleaner that apparently gets fluff out of the phone too.

ShyMaryEllen · 26/10/2025 22:46

I am doing stockings for my family, which includes my husband, son and daughter and a SIL and DIL, and am only just starting to shop, so am looking forward to seeing ideas. My contribution for now is an LED head torch which lights up a wide area rather than a bulb-sized zone. My children and their partners all walk dogs, so I figured they could use them and my husband does various DIY tasks as well as walking back from the pub, so I got three packs of two on Amazon, so I can pocket one, too 😀.

There is currently a deal where you can tick a box to reduce the price to around £15 for two.

XelaM · 27/10/2025 00:03

My dad absolutely loved an oodie (I got a cheap dupe version off amazon but it's great) - he wears it to breakfast and in the evenings all the time.

redrose115 · 27/10/2025 03:39

I think a good quality water bottle if drinking water is something he doesn’t do very well or wants to try to drink more regularly. I got DH a good quality one that’s stainless steel from a sports shop and DH takes it to work.

Also on that thought a reusable coffee mug can be ideal too.

ADHDwifeHP · 27/10/2025 09:22

I am loving all the suggestions!!! Now my only challenge is not over spending 🤣

Loving all these ideas!
I usually get some lovely whisky truffles, undies (the Oddballs ones are favourites), whisky miniatures, fingerless gloves (he’s WFH but hands get cold), amusing calendar for his desk.

Comefromaway · 27/10/2025 14:18

An extra long phone cable and a battery pack went down well with my dh. Car air freshener. Keyring with mini screwdrivers on (he wears glasses). Beanie type hat. Favourite brand socks.

AquaShark · 27/10/2025 19:16

Books, chocolate, socks, wooly hat, bamboo coffee cup, satsuma, nice bottle of wine?

LifeSucksBigFatBalls · 28/10/2025 00:00

Christmas socks
A christmas hat
Funny props like Xmas Glasses
Small travel games
Christmas cup with Hot Chocolate
Travel mug
Christmas Sweets
Chocolate Coins

XelaM · 28/10/2025 00:23

@Arrrrrrragghhh Car air fresheners with my face on ( scowling as I hate his driving)

Ohhh I love the personalised photo car air fresher idea!! I will steal that 😀

caringcarer · 28/10/2025 00:24

Last year I got DH a cheese making kit.
Mini bottles of rum.
Flask cup
Sport biography or autobiography
Giant Toblerone
Hoodie
Subscription to Find my Past. I renew this for him every year.
Socks
Pants
Shower gel
Heated throw because I have one and he's always wanting to borrow it
Photo frame for his Grans photo because the one it's in got a crack in it.
Jigsaw puzzle with his dogs on.
That's all I've thought of so far.
