Main presents for DC

I’ve got lots of ideas for smaller £5 - £25 gifts for DC but not sure what to get as a main present. None of them are wow gifts so I feel like something is missing. So I thought I’d ask on here to see what you’re getting yours!
My DD is 9 and DS is 7.

Following as mine are the same age and haven’t asked for “main” presents yet.

GRCP · 23/10/2025 18:04

@DarcyDearwhat are yours into? I’m considering a Playmobil set for DS but totally clueless for DD.
She’s into KPop Demon Hunters, KPop in general, Billie Eilish, Labubu, Wicked, Wednesday …

Home karaoke machine for DD.

ResusciAnnie · 23/10/2025 18:17

Mine are 10 and 8, boys.

10 year old's main pressie will be some kind of music player - ipod shuffle perhaps, apparently they're in again!

8 year old (just about to turn 8) main present will be tickets to Operation Ouch show.

I'm thinking of getting them Gravitrax to share. I almost bought it last year but 2 relatives bought them (rubbish) marble runs so I held off, and regret it!

That’s so weird I was just looking at kareoke for my DD! She just got into her school choir and loves music

When ds was around age it was

a Wii (so a few years back!)
games table (pool, air hockey, football)
bike
proper stunt scooter (as most of the kids around the street had one)
Football stuff (local team strip, goalie gloves with fingersaves, samba goals, etc)

It will be very dependent what he is into

GRCP · 23/10/2025 18:19

He does love football

ipod shuffle is a good idea for DD

Also thought I'd share DS2's bday pressies in case helpful:

Fondue set
Gladiators tickets
New scooter
Lego
Tetris keyring
Headset for his switch
Cake decorating set
and cardboard cutting tools from make.do from a relative. Wondered if a bit young but he's obsessed with cardboard crafting!

He really wants an ipad and has asked for the last few years but it's a no!

Have you seen that Mattel are releasing Kpop dolls in November? It’s going to be a 3 doll set so will probably be expensive and will sell out quickly.

I’ve signed up on the Mattel website to be notified of their release

Dd wants an ouchies puppy, she's 7 but very much still into toys. I'm also thinking of getting her a well-stocked, boxed art set as she really loves anything art and craft related. Also a squish a longs set, none of it is very main. She has had a Barbie house, squishy maker, bike and a trampoline in previous years.

GRCP · 23/10/2025 18:58

@HolyMoly24thanks so much - have signed up too!

I'm getting DD9 a laptop at her request

ResusciAnnie · 23/10/2025 19:00

We got that for DS1 last Xmas (age 9) - really good!! Very well received.

GRCP · 23/10/2025 19:03

@TardisDwellermy dd wants a squishee maker too.
@ItsFridayIminLoveJSthose digital print cameras look good for DD

OP posts:
TardisDweller · 23/10/2025 19:28

It's a little messy but she has loved using it.

Bollindger · 23/10/2025 19:30

Watches with proper hands are in again.
seems lots can’t tell the time unless it is digital.

ResusciAnnie · 23/10/2025 19:30

We got squishy maker set for one of them last year - BAD idea do not recommend! You can only seal the squishies with clips which can then obviously be undone… no mention or sight of that on any of the packaging etc so feels like they know that’s shit. And whenever you squish them there’s a big clip in the way. Maybe there are better sets but beware!
Also felt overall wasteful - money, time, plastic. If they’d have lasted it would have been kind of ok!

All of ours have lasted well, ours is Dr Squish and we've never had a leak or a clip come undone.

Mine is exactly the same interests! 7 year old is only really into arts and crafts though.
