My house

With my parents - apparently I am cooking Christmas dinner. Which is a new one as we usually go out. But I'm happy to do it, providing they provide the wine!

Always at home!

At home, just me DH and DS22. We used to have PIL but they can’t travel now so just us.
I love Christmas dinner at home.

Home with DH and DS1

We are having at it at home, as we almost always do. I know MIL would love us to come to them, but they live a long way away, and if we go to them, my DM, who’s single with no other children, would be alone. So she comes to us and we will see MIL on Boxing Day.

With only 5 of us, it’s always a very chilled, relaxed day.

With my mum. It will be just dh, her and I as it’s a no child year for us-they are with their respective other parents. We had booked to go to a Beautiful hotel in the Dolomites for it-and I was so looking forward to it. But unfortunately my lovely Dad died in August and we can’t leave mum on her own. My dad loved Christmas and it will be very hard and quite miserable being in my childhood home for it without him there. Dreading it tbh.

Absolute bliss.

At home, we took the plunge last Christmas and said we weren’t going anywhere on Christmas Day anymore but everyone is welcome to come to us and we are sticking to that now!

DH will go his mother's 240 miles north
I'll go to my mother's 90 milles south
They are 89 and we are now at the stage where every Christmas might be their last.

It's shit but we make the best of it.

Our house, me, DH, DS, DM that is Christmas these days and for the foreseeable. DS may have a partner at some point (he's only 17) and the dynamic may change or they may go elsewhere. DM won't be around forever.

At home, with DH and my adult DD. Although we're going out for a curry for lunch 😃

At home as we always do since having young kids. When they were 3 and 4 we decided we weren’t going anywhere on Christmas Day but anyone was welcome to join us.
they’re now in their early 20’s and we have over 20 that come and join us for Christmas every year! Made a rod for our own backs there 😂

At home and my mum will come over. We pop out in the morning to see dh’s side though because everyone is local.

All DC now on early 20s so no doubt things will change as they get into long term relationships so will savour it so much until then ,as I love our Christmas days
I really don’t understand the ‘ having it with just your nuclear family ‘ each to their own of course but to me that’s just too much like any other day

At home - 10 of us, 4dcs plus their partners and ds's dog. We may invite our neighbours round for a glass of bubbles in the morning. I may be playing the organ for a 9am service! Lots of board games and nice wine. Dinner will be (as always in our house) at Mummy O'Clock.

If any dcs tell us their friends are alone, they will very obviously be invited too. I'm a mi casa host as long as the wine flows.

It will be me, DH our 3 kids plus my sister, BIL and their kids.

We will see my husband's family on boxing day - they don't do a big family thing on Xmas day which suits me as it means I get to spend it with my family!
