Food Christmas ideas for dh

MaurineWayBack · 19/10/2025 18:13

Food is probably what is working best for dh…
So far I’ve had cheese (Wensleydale cheese), pies and puddings
Pies: https://www.yorkshirehandmadepies.co.uk
Puddings: https://georgieporgiespuddings.co.uk

So very traditional type of food iyswim.
Any other ideas of what could work well?

@MaurineWayBack @BettyBettyBoop how would I go about ordering the pies for a Christmas present? It doesn’t seem very obvious about picking dates. Please and thank you!

So from what I remember, you can't choose a date but they email you once it's been dispatched with a delivery date and then you can track the delivery, I want to say they use DPD but can't remember 100%. we always order early December and then keep the pies in the freezer (they come frozen in a tray style box which fits/stacks in the freezer nicely)

MaurineWayBack · 20/10/2025 20:23

They are frozen so you can order them in advance with no issue.
I was a bit worried on whether they’re still be frozen when they arrived but I was really amazed to see they were perfect.
You do need to be at home though, then they can go directly in the freezer.

I can’t quite remember but I’m pretty sure last year they had a cut off date too.

Inverawe does all sorts of lovely smoked salmon, smoked trout, and other fishy goodies, pates, etc.

JingsMahBucket · 20/10/2025 21:34

@MaurineWayBack @BettyBettyBoop thank you. I was thinking of sending them directly to my SIL’s house as a gift so it wouldn’t be delivered to me to store them. I’ll try emailing them to see what they can do.

Another suggestion for smoked salmon lovers- www.thepishedfish.com

If he likes seafood the hampers from this company on the Isle of Mull are superb! Customer service is off the scale too!!
https://www.tobermoryfish.co.uk/

we’ve also bought from Georgie Porgy pies before which my dad loved and got funny pickled onions (fart blasters, ring stingers etc) with cheese from The Chuckling Cheese company. Mum sends my niece the M&S Italian hamper which she really enjoys - so maybe find some lovely charcuterie and make up your own.

The Tobermory Fish Company

The Tobermory Fish Company, on the Isle of Mull, sells delicious smoked salmon and trout, fish, shellfish, gift boxes and cards, and local produce.

@jocktamsonsbairn the Wensleydale Company used to do the same sort of hampers as the Chuckling Cheese Company. They were great (and dh loved that!).
Unfortunately, they’ve closed their Internet shop :(

Thanks. I’ve looked at the Speyside website. Hmm… looks nice. But big!

Not a problem for my husband!!

I'm buying my SIL a cream tea hamper from the Cornish Company. They also do pasty hampers. The Cream Tea Hamper – The Cornish Company

I can second these are delicious. I order 1 for my sister's birthday each year.

Shwighty1 · 21/10/2025 22:17

I would suggest looking at Bettys, lots of delicious things there, also Brindisa spanish foods, and another one would be the fine cheese company, I’ve sent gifts from all of these and they’ve gone down really well

Bil likes food gifts. I’ve previously got him calzone from The Calzone Kitchen
A big Serrano ham on a stand from Lidl which I gave him with some olives, beer and cheese and crackers.
Make your own chorizo/bacon kits (and the meat to do so)
Various meat boxes (Farmison and Pipers Farm are two I can remember)
A Cornish pasty box from Philps. That also had scones and saffron cake in I think.

(It was perfectly clear to me what you were asking)

Yes, we’ve had them too and they’re good (although dh thought they were a little bit on the small side so ate two!). They do some interesting flavours as well as normal
pizza flavours.

Loopylalalou · 22/10/2025 11:40

Mine would be happy with a monster box of Haribo and a share pack of cheese and onion crisps (all things he doesn’t normally get!!).

To be fair this sounds like exactly something my OH would say... too small, must eat 2!😂
