Playstion 5 for kids!!

My 9 year old daughter has asked for either a vr headset or a PlayStation for Christmas!! I think she is too young for the vr so I was looking at the ps5 but I can’t find very many games for her age. Does anyone have a younger child with a PlayStation? Do they play with it still? I am worried they are not many games for her age and that she will lose interest. We already have a switch but she doesn’t play it that often as aparently she can’t get Roblox on it 🤦‍♀️

We have a ps5 and a VR. My 8 year old son plays the PlayStation every day! The VR barely gets touched.

The playstation is coveted not so much for the games, but because they can go online and easily talk to and play with lots of friends. She will be wanting it because friends are talking about playing robolox and talking to each other, so listen out for the games their friends are playing as she will want the same ones.

Perhaps get roblox and give her enough on a playstation gift card for another game once she is online and decides which one everyone else is mostly playing.

Start educating yourself on how to set up for safety so she can only speak to her friends and don't put your credit card in it or tell them passwords.

Minecraft and fortnite are the two games played most in my house.
The youngest is also into playing Fifa.

But if you get one, make sure its set up properly, you with adult account, child supervised kids account.
Lots of people seem to let kids have adult accounts.

Just get the PS5 and forget the VR for now

Any of the lego games are brilliant for that age and plants vs zombies. You can play ps4 games in the ps5 so that might help keep the games costs down. 2nd games are worth it. We buy ours from CEX. They have lots of shops throughout the UK. We got a good deal on the ps5 from john lewis. You'll need 2 controllers.

Get Astrobot for it, it's an amazing game! DD8 loves it.

My ds9 plays his ps5 most days, he likes cooking simulator, fortnite & assassins creed. He has a VR too and that gets used a lot!

Thanks everyone, I never thought of the talking online part of it! To be honest that puts me off I don’t like the idea of her online with anyone else can you still play Roblox without the chat? I haven’t a clue about all this stuff I much prefer them playing with toys 😭

If its set up properly you should be able to set it up so she can only chat with friends.

Friends being people she is linked to. And TBH i only allow my kids to link to kids they know in real life. There is the odd friend of friend or sibling of friend but thats my absolute limit.
