when do you usually order your turkey from M&S ? Remember leaving it quite late last year and selection was limited

Around about now tbh. Their stuff sells out pretty fast.

GRCP · 12/10/2025 18:01

I ordered mine from Sainsbury’s today.

Letsskidaddle · 12/10/2025 22:23

I did my food order for M&S last week! Wanted to get organised and spread the payment - they take a deposit and I’m putting a bit aside each week. Just ordered the things I want to make sure I’ve got and that (I hope) will be a bit extra special, without having to make it all from scratch. A treat to myself more than anyone else!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/10/2025 18:25

TBh I haven’t ordered one for a few years now. I just go at the crack of dawn on 23rd Dec - opening time is usually 7 am - and get one off the shelf.

JingsMahBucket · 13/10/2025 18:35

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER do you normally get a full turkey or a what’s called a crown? I’m just curious because I’m thinking of taking my chances and skipping all the stressful delivery slot stuff to just walk in to get something off the shelf. It’ll probably save me money too because I won’t do huge grocery orders as a “build up” to the holiday, IYSWIM.

Empress13 · 13/10/2025 19:16

Thanks ladies best get it ordered as the slots go fast

I ordered last week and the first 2 days of slots were fully booked out already, so I’m having to go on the 23rd in the evening. Which is fine but it means I’ll likely have to go twice rather than once (I pick up other bits from M&S and wouldn’t feel comfortable waiting until the 23rd to get them, and I refuse to go into a shop on Christmas Eve!)

A whole turkey, usually a medium sized one. I’ll be there as soon as the shop opens at 7, and have always had plenty of choice.

I should imagine that the same strategy would work for a crown!

JingsMahBucket · 14/10/2025 07:10

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER thanks! Maybe I’ll get something else from there like one of their beef dishes. I’m feeling brave right now! 😂

I’ve ordered their stuffed crown as usual with the walnut stuffing. Then I buy a turkey leg from Morrisons as DS and I prefer the leg meat. We’ve also ordered their veggie wellington which was fabulous last year, and the cranberry pork pie, also fabulous.
DSs are hoping that PIL turn up with the chocolate pinecones as they did last year when I said they were too pricey.

Wow - game changer! I didn’t know you could buy just a leg. Have you seen them anywhere else or just Morrisons, please.

And don’t get a pair or just one in a packet?

Empress13 · 14/10/2025 21:36

We usually have the profiteroles but fancy something different this year.

Our nearest Tesco isn’t a huge one and it doesn’t sell them. Neither does our nearest Sainsbury’s. I think I googled it and Morrisons came up. I assumed I’d buy more than one - but they were enormous! One was plenty!

Maray1967 · 14/10/2025 23:02

We love the pork and chestnut stuffing and either get a crown or a deboned turkey if they do them. But we miss the leg meat, so cooking a (large) leg worked great last year.

Limer · 15/10/2025 07:55

Slots are already going fast. I don't get a turkey from M&S but I have ordered the chocolate pinecones! This year they're also doing a white chocolate version, so those are ordered too. Plus the cranberry-topped pork pie of course.

JingsMahBucket · 15/10/2025 12:32

@Letsskidaddle I regularly buy either a turkey drumstick or a thigh from Tesco throughout the year because we like actually like dark turkey meat. I usually buy them and stick them in my freezer for later. Trying looking in person or doing an online order. Here are the links for them:

Turkey drumstick: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/313748760

Turkey thigh: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/313601415

Annoying the turkey thigh has risen dramatically in price over the past 18 months. I used to be £4.50 or so.

Empress13 · 16/10/2025 00:22

Ordered my turkey crown for 8. One less job to think about and yes where I live slots are filling up fast !
