She's 10 (will be 11 in January) and is happy for this to be a main present.

I don't want something too expensive but I do want something rubbish.

It's a bit niche but I thought I'd ask here.

Not very helpful but a couple of friends have Polaroid cameras and the film is very expensive and the photos are small and poor quality. They're a bit of a one hit wonder. If she wants the Polaroid effect, Photobox will print mobile phone photos in a Polaroid style, but not as much fun.

We have a Kodak mini shot 2 era. It's better than Instax mini IMO because you can preview the picture and if it's no good you don't have to print it. But for all of these the films are quite expensive. You'll probably want to give DD a decent number as part of the present. The quality is better than instax or old style Polaroid too.

My daughters both have the Polaroid one. Don’t use them often but when they do they love them

My son has the instax liplay, it has a screen so he can pick what he wants to print or delete. It also adds frames and other things to the photos, which he enjoys doing.

I have connected to my phone and it will print photos from the phone, which is another bonus.

Film is expensive, but he doesn’t go mad with printing, he enjoys taking the photos and picking what to print for his album

Fuji Instax - very well supported and better quality than "Polaroid" (Polaroid isn't the same company as back in the day, it's more of a brand that is lisenced and sold around these days, same as Kodak).

loads of choice, so I'm sure you'll find one that suits your daughters taste.

DD also got an Instax around that age.

we also have an instax and it’s easy to use

Fujifilm instax wide!

Similar size photos to traditional Polaroid (wider rather than taller though), film can be bought loads of places such as Argos and it’s a perfect instant camera. The mini’s are good too if your daughter wants smaller bankcard size photo.

I have an instax wide and also an original Polaroid camera but as others have said the film is more expensive. I tend to just use my instax.

Trying to hold off on a mobile phone for the time being (maybe next summer in preparation for secondary school).

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
