posting on the Christmas board!

I'm trying to enjoy the summer but it drains my energy and I can’t say I’m sad when it’s over. So just indulging myself today and thinking about the things I am looking forward to, to cheer myself up! feel free to add to the list.

-Bake Off starting. Still love how cosy and calm this show is and I love watching in autumn

-wearing autumn clothes. I struggle with what to wear in summer as my ‘uniform’ is check print skirts, roll necks, tights and boots. Love wearing all my different jumpers and adding scarves and nice coats to outfits

-country walks are nicer when it’s cold, less people about, less flies, less sweaty and ending with a roast in a nice pub with a fire going is a perfect way to spend a Sunday

-strictly starting. I don’t even watch it all the way through but it signals the countdown to Christmas

-reading, candles on and not feeling the pressure to be outside for the sake of it

-the festive nights out and the chance to dress up a bit!

-fancy cheese, baileys & mince pies… yum!

Love this thread and I’m looking forward to all the same things you are op 🥰 I do actually love the summer too but I also love cosy autumns and winter. We are also moving house (hopefully, it’s been a bloody nightmare) and new house has lovely high ceilings. Want a huge Christmas tree for my hallway, mulled wine, Christmas candles, cosy sweaters, empty beach walks and the log burner on when we get home. Love decorating my tree too, all my baubles are sentimental and each one makes me smile. I love hosting Christmas, cooking Christmas dinner and I also love matching Christmas jumpers for Christmas Day, including the dogs 🤣🤣🤣

I’m looking forward to September. I hate summer (fat, fair skin, peri, off the charts hay fever, migraines). I like spring and autumn but absolutely love winter and Christmas.

I'm looking forward to evenings and mornings being darker, lighting candles in the evening, being able to enjoy winter food (soup, roast dinner, chilli) and needing to wear my warm socks.

Am actively excited for Christmas decorations and prep. I put a lot of lights everywhere as I think everything just looks nicer with candle/fairy lights. I also really like picking and wrapping presents for people and the opportunity it presents to listen to Christmas music or watch Christmas films.

2 downsides for me are that I’m going back to work soon (adoption leave is finishing) so I’m going to have to learn to balance being a mam, work and Christmas planning.
Also, related to this, I’ve lost my office (is now Lo’s room) so my desk is going to have to go where the Christmas tree normally is and I’m not sure where else it will fit…. Xmas Hmm

@FinallyMummy

Your user name just says sooooo much.

It's one occasion when going to Court is a happy and exciting event.

I have found my tribe!!

I've also just remembered about the very expensive (but actually perfectly reasonably priced thanks to last years post Xmas sales) glass baubles I bought & squirrelled away! 😁

We are also finally moving house next month! & I am beyond excited to spend as much time as possible under blankets, reading, smelling candles & wearing the fluffiest pjs.... bliss! 🥰

Loving this thread. It's exactly what I needed. We are going through some really tough times at the moment. I've had to cancel our holiday (was due to fly next Friday). Need to see if we can get the money back from our insurance. Its been a nightmare.

I am sat here with Movies 24 on as its all Xmas films.I need distractions.
Looking forward to autumn, autumn clothing, strictly, Halloween and of course Xmas 🙂

I also love this thread! The recent weather has got me all excited for the ‘ber months. I’m already planning on my autumn and winter bakes.

Me too!
I'm SO uncomfortable and fed up with the heat and humidity...it makes me feel ill.
Bring on bright, chilly mornings 🌄

Thought of this thread today. It’s rained solidly all day here and been quite chilly. We picked a bunch of early plums and blackberries today and I’ve come home to a dark and relatively (compared to the last few months)cold house. So I’ve made them in to a very autumnal crumble!

Love this thread! As mentioned by others, looking forward to Bake Off and Strictly signalling the start of the season. Can’t wait to start cooking lovely warming meals, stews and soups with hot crusty bread - perfect for those grey, drizzly September evenings.

I enjoy Autumn, Halloween and Christmas so pleased we are inching closer to the ‘ber months.

Looking forward to some TK Maxx trips to browse the decor and stock up on some seasonal hand soaps and shower gels. Also looking forward to the stores starting to upload their seasonal offerings so I can peruse on an evening snug with a blanket, glass of red and some candles flickering (even better when the supermarkets start to put out their seasonal food offerings - nothing better than writing a list of all the bits we fancy trying!).

Costa’s Black Forest hot chocolate!

SomeFiggyPudding · 27/07/2025 13:37

Honestly this board keeps me sane all year round - i cant speak my Christmas obsession out loud so it’s lovely to have somewhere to come to think about dark evenings, stepping into a warm house when it’s cold outside, hot chocolate, lazy indoor guilt free Sundays - bliss!

I love this thread too!
From around August time I keep a notebook with Autumn and Christmas lists! I love thinking of ideas for baking, crafts, days out, nights in etc.
Around when schools go back I like to get a couple of autumnal bits like a new candle for when the weather cools and the nights are darker.
I look forward to making the house cosy after the summer where alot of the upkeep is in the garden.
I also look forward to planning October half term with seasonal activities, both kids and adult!
