For the last decade or so (I’m 35, child free for context) my friends have always got a big house (16 of us) with a hot tub somewhere in the country. We always dress up and decorate and have a fab party.
But we stopped doing it 22/23 year as a few of the group have started having ch now and it’s not really ideal as they don’t want to leave young babies/toddlers for a few days but also don’t want to bring them.
Last year a group of us went to a ticketed event in a bar- live band, fireworks at midnight and a fairground ride outside. It was fantastic. Loved the atmosphere of being out in a venue. I wouldn’t dream of going “out out” as in, crawling from one bar/club to another, queuing to get in places with no guarantee, but the ticketed event was perfect. We had an amazing time and so are doing it again this year and I can’t wait!

It’s one of my children’s birthdays so we pretty much always have a party at our house. They are an adult now so have their own plans but we still have a party.

Probably go to bed about 10pm like I do every NYE 😆

Same here. Young kids that like to get up anytime from 5.30 puts a dampener on staying up late. Some nice food and a bottle of champagne in the evening though. Not sure whether to go for takeaway or a meal deal or something.

DD is going OUT OUT with her mates so I'll be at home to watch films, and put on the fireworks when it's time.

Got tickets for a band at the local pub, thankfully lots of choice here. 7/7 local pubs in walking distance have parties on

Hanging out in a house with friends, teens and champagne

Home having a disco with the kids (aged 2-7) early evening then a buffet of their favourite food followed by a movie marathon in the hope they might make it to midnight - they won't - and neither will DH. I'm predicting 4th year on a row I'm the only one awake as we move into new year

A 12 hour night shift in the police control room

Lounge disco

Hate Hogmanay and all that och aye whas like us tartan shite.
It gives arseholes an excuse to be bigger arseholes with a drink in them.

And I'm Scottish so can say the above 😂

Enough4me · 28/12/2024 00:32

Going to cook a nice meal with my partner and watch TV, browse online sales. My DD will be off with her BF. I'll message my mum & family. No rip off takeaways taking forever at lower quality than usual (as we've done previous years). My partner will be asleep hours before me so I'll wake him at midnight.

SingingSands · 28/12/2024 01:10

I find NYE really cringey. I'm Scottish (but live in England) so every year I get loads of people at work going on and on about how much I must LOVE it and REALLY GO FOR IT. I did enjoy it between the ages of 16 and 24 but I'm considerably older now and happy to leave it to the young ones. I'll be in bed before midnight, and I'll be sober.

TotalDramarama24 · 28/12/2024 01:10

I've got tickets for the Operation Mincemeat late show and party that sees in the new year, to try something different this year.
