Do you have a drink Christmas Eve?
When do you start and what?

We're going to crib service at 5:30pm tomorrow when we get back I'll make dinner, prawns with garlic, chorizo and lemon (we're out for lunch so only want something light) with crusty bread and I will open a bottle of wine then.

HangingOver · 23/12/2024 23:23

Nope. Four years sober thanks to many years ruining Christmas with Chateau Neuf.

Cheers to all who can partake normally 😁

mdinbc · 23/12/2024 23:23

We have a quiet Christmas Eve, just DH and I. A cider or glass of wine, and beer for him is typical for us. We hardly ever crack open any hard liquor, we're just not fans.

No alcohol on Christmas Eve as we got to my mums for Christmas dinner as a family, as dd works on Christmas Day , and then dd and I go to the midnight carol service with my mum , while eldest and dh go home.

popandchoc · 24/12/2024 08:31

We are going to the pub at 5 for dinner so will prob have a glass of wine then and a bottle of prosecco in fridge for when we are back.

MammaTo · 24/12/2024 08:34

We’re going for a meal at 4pm so will have a glass of wine then and then after the baby is in bed we’ll open some picky bits/cheese and have some champagne whilst building presents.

CandiedPrincess · 24/12/2024 08:36

3pm after I've dropped the teen at work, and I will be popping the fizz while I do dinner prep for tomorrow.

ChaosHol1 · 24/12/2024 08:37

Yes, we are out for dinner tonight and will have a cocktail. My eldest is then going to get her friends in the pub and me dh and younger dd will have a couple of wines when we play board games with ds.

ThriveIn2025 · 24/12/2024 08:38

Normally yes but not this year. Fed up of the hangovers and feeling rough Christmas morning.

Shabba2025 · 24/12/2024 08:40

I can't do it anymore. Even a whiff will ruin me unfortunately. The hangovers are real.

Rooroobear · 24/12/2024 08:42

I finish work at 3 today so will be going for a quick drink after work with my friends. Then when I get home I’ll have a couple of bucks fizz’s 🥂

deplorabelle · 24/12/2024 08:43

No we are always on duty at church for the big afternoon service (750 people with lit candles) and then midnight communion. It's nearly 1am by the time we are finished clearing up usually and we are knackered.

itsallbowlsbaby · 24/12/2024 08:44

Going for a long country walk with friends to tire the kids out and we'll end it at the pub so first drink of the day will either be a pint of cider or a Prosecco about 3pm.

I so empathise, I can't have more than a glass and even so. I'm saving that glass for Christmas dinner!

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 24/12/2024 08:46

Start at lunchtime, today will be Cava. Christmas Day is champagne 🍾

Ribenaberry12 · 24/12/2024 08:56

Today, a glass of wine with dinner and then probably another one in front of the telly before an early night waiting for Santa.
Christmas Day, weddings and funerals are the only days when it’s acceptable to drink before lunch in our family so will be Buck’s Fizz with breakfast and then on from there!

CoastalCalm · 24/12/2024 09:13

No booze for me , Christmas Day I might have a vodka lime and soda but not fussed either way

PheasantPluckers · 24/12/2024 09:19

It's normally a couple of G&Ts or a Bailey's once DC is in bed. I'm normally too knackered to do any damage by that point😂

We do!

We go to our favourite local pub after a walk to see the lights every Christmas Eve around 4pm for a drink. Then a glass of wine/beer with dinner at home and a glass of Baileys while watching TV after our daughter has gone to bed.

We’re in Prague this Christmas though! Been trying to find a bottle of Baileys this morning but can’t find any. Kicking myself for not buying a bottle at Heathrow! We have some Czech beers in and some wine. Planning to get some mulled wine at the Christmas market this afternoon and will have a couple of beers/wine at our Airbnb this evening.

Does anyone drink today?
