Is anyone else not feeling even slightly festive?

I'm in quite the funk and need to find the Christmas spirit fast!

We don't have kids so I think that does make it harder to feel Christmassy, but I've got a horrible cold and been good for nothing for several days as well as got a lot of stress going on in my wider life at the minute.

House is a bomb site, I'm not as prepared as usual and feeling all round yuck and tense!

Anyone else in the same boat? Those who are in the merry festive spirit please do share any tips you have for me to get out of this mood and become more optimistic!

I've got the tree lights on, been making festive meals and still nothing! I feel a right scrooge 🫣

I was in the spirit of the season about a week ago , but not now . I'm not feeling it at all at the moment.

That's exactly what's happened to me. I was enjoying the run up to Christmas, then suddenly lost it. Think I peaked too early 😔

My kids are all adults now, so no Xmas excitement here. Luckily I was ill a few weeks ago, so got that over with.
I think I started too soon, I started drinking frothy coffees while watching Xmas films back in November, so I’m a bit over it now.
im looking forward to taking the decorations down and having a spring clean.

So many people on here have been ill too. The afternoon I finished work (Fri) I was struck down with flu/cold. Missed long drive to elderly mother for lunch, felt guilty but others went and it would have been impossible. Recovering with adult children home being kind, but not sure I will have usual Xmas energy. Lay in bed sweating realizing I was fretting that I hadn't made mince pies and fruit cake FFS. Kids said 'Mum seriously noone cares'🤣. I think we all, particularly women, put ourselves under so much pressure not only to do everything perfectly at Xmas but also to BE jolly and energetic... All too much. Hope you all manage to lower expectations and enjoy some different time from the normal grind.

There's been so much illness going about this year reading the threads.

I don't know what happened but all of a sudden it's Christmas eve and we've hardly done anything I wants us to do. I've been ill this last week and not feeling a lot better yet which is why.

But every year no matter what I always end up feeling flat and promise myself next year will be different and try and plan (this year I followed bargain threads, did part of the Christmas clean along) but there's still chaos near the end. I hate it and don't understand it.
