Ah I’ve bought the wrong trainers!

Dd (15 years old) really wanted a pair of Nike tn trainers. Money is really tight as my husband has been off work with cancer. I really wanted to get her some so bought some off Vinted. They are amazing new condition for a fraction of the price. Tonight I found my daughter looking at trainers online and she pointed out the ones she likes. They have a black sole and the ones I bought have a white sole. I casually pointed the white sole and are said she didn’t like them and they look like pe trainers. I’m gutted. Not sure my point in posting as it’s too late to do anything about it but this year has been so rubbish I wanted to give her something she really wants.

Can you come clean? Tell her you tried, didn't realise she had a preference and she can either have these or an IOU for her birthday/later on. Basically, when you manage to find another good deal/some extra money or if she has savings/own money you can both pitch in for a pair. You can also try and sell the trainers yourself to recoup some of the money.

At her age , she should be able to understand and appreciate the gesture even if it didn't quite hit the mark.

Does it really matter, she should be appreciative of what you can afford

Ah sorry, op. I’d give them to her and just be totally honest and you can make a plan together to sell them and get the other ones with the money. I’m sure she will appreciate that you really tried.
