Absolutely drawing a blank for our 8 year old nephew 🙈 this is the one job I delegated to DP as he was always so good with nephews however yesterday he informed me he has not thought of anything..

so budget £20-30, he doesn’t really seem to have any hobbies except iPad/YouTube/phone but I don’t even know what he likes watching 😭

Is there anything particularly popular atm? Must have brands or accessories?! So grateful for any help!!

Following ! I’ve had a look but it’s just the e usual. Lego etc . Drone maybe?! I’ve struggled myself this year. Oh maybe board games?!

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 20/12/2024 22:17

Phoenix comic subscription? First 6 issues at £1 to see if he likes it.

anything to do with Minecraft?

Snicksnacksnora · 20/12/2024 22:46

Maybe robux voucher or v bucks voucher? What game does he play on iPad?

SwimBikeRunBake · 20/12/2024 22:48

Lego or board games are good for 8 year olds. Lego technic is good for older kids.
Nerf guns are also quite popular.

DoggoQuestions · 20/12/2024 22:48

8yo boy - can't go wrong with something toilet-humour related.

stayathomer · 20/12/2024 22:50

Kinetic sand, yoyo, rubix cube, dandy and beano annnual, dogman book, operation game (he mightn’t like any of these things but you never know!)

Snicksnacksnora · 20/12/2024 22:52

of maybe blue light anti glare gaming glasses

BakingQueen14 · 20/12/2024 22:52

My son had his first gravitrax set when he was 8. It's like an older child's marble run. He also had Game of Life that year and we've played it loads.

We also have Taco, cat, goat, cheese, pizza which is a card game. That was bought by someone else for DS but I've since bought it for a few friends. It's a fast game and good fun. A bit like dobble.

It's difficult when they mainly just want a screen.

Livinginadream · 20/12/2024 22:54

Remote control car.

Tootjaskoot · 20/12/2024 22:56

Plus Plus is great, my 8 year old loves it

Jeeb123 · 20/12/2024 23:14

I bought my son one of those viral scrolling rings I'm sure that's going to go down well!

XelaM · 20/12/2024 23:16

Cash in a card is always a winner!

My DS8 would be happy to get
Nerf gun
Kidzlab or National Geographic science kits
Rubix cube, shashibo cube or similar 3D puzzle game
One of the 7/8+ Smart Games
Any Lego set (Ninjago, Star Wars, Minecraft, Dreamz and technic seem to be popular ones)
Pokemon or Minecraft clothing/ slippers
A board game?

Hazeltwig · 21/12/2024 01:27

Does he like Minecraft? Because the board game Minecraft Builders & Biomes is really good and fun for kids and adults. My 9 year old picked it up easily. It's on Amazon, £23.99.

Needanewname42 · 21/12/2024 01:29

Football stuff, rebounder, goal.
Lego
Gravitrax (on Christmas list but often seen it recommended)
Books
Console games if they have a console

Needanewname42 · 21/12/2024 01:33

A mini keyboard my 8yo has taken to playing with one the last few weeks

Rainbow450 · 21/12/2024 15:03

Models to build, there's some good things by clemantoni on Amazon, games such as Uno, double, rat a tat cat, Lego, science set or clothes.

This is an excellent list - my 8 yr old would like these. Also, retro game players - little arcade or handheld knock offs with old games on them. Some boys also still like squishmallows but riskier!

MumVUnicorns · 21/12/2024 15:25

Lego is always a good option: Minecraft, Ninjago or Star Wars are popular (although seemingly sold out in a lot of places near me at the moment...)

Annuals - Pokemon, Minecraft or Guinness World Records Gamers edition.

Nerf/xshot guns

If he has a Tonie - try one of the pocket tonies (novels for older kids - David walliams/captain underpants/christmasaurus)
