Ocado - no Yule log!

Mia5678 · 17/12/2024 22:26

Secured a slot for Friday 3 or so weeks ago. Was hoping Christmas stuff would come back into stock but no such luck such as Yule log and other party food.

anyone else feeling a bit disappointed?

I had been planning to put in an order, but there were a few Christmassy items showing as out of stock and I gave up and went elsewhere.

Ohthatsabitshit · 17/12/2024 22:28

Just make one, it will be much nicer.

Patienceinshortsupply · 17/12/2024 22:31

I just booked my slot back in October without really thinking about it, and when I went back in to edit, nearly everything is out of stock. I've ordered some click and collect items from M & S so I'm praying that the food hall is better stocked and I can get it then.

Very poor stock levels for Ocado, seems unusual.

mynameiscalypso · 17/12/2024 22:33

I've been very disappointed with them too. I've had to do a separate Waitrose online delivery because Ocado were so poor.

VegTrug · 17/12/2024 22:51

Never ever ‘Edit’ a Christmas shop once it’s been placed! If you order everything a couple of months ahead, it reserves the items for you. If you edit in December, especially this close, the items on your shop are no longer reserved. It’s an odd system.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 17/12/2024 22:52

I agree, there is a lot out of stock now. I was in M&S yesterday and they have loads of Christmas food still in stock.

Jaccolbean · 17/12/2024 22:53

To be fair I edited mine today, and whilst I couldn’t add in Yule log, everything that I had added back in Sept (!) stayed reserved. - thankfully!

Keepsmiling2948 · 17/12/2024 23:06

Did the same, booked a slot ages ago and already loads out of stock for my delivery date of the 21st. Keep checking and the occasional thing has come back in but still most things out of stock. Unusual as Ocado are usually brilliant.Went to an M&S on a weekend away recently and the shelves were bursting with party food so not sure what’s going on. I would pop into our local store but annoyingly ours has closed down to move less than a mile away so we won’t have one for 9 months.

Ive has to do an additional asda delivery for the same day to infill, easy to get a slot and pretty much fully stocked!

I've not had that happen at all. I've edited my shop about 5 times this week and it still has all the things that I'd put in my basket back in Sept when the slots opened. I just can't add a lot of other things as they're out of stock - which is annoying as I had no idea if I would be hosting when I booked the slot.

ExquisiteDecorations · 17/12/2024 23:20

At least you still have time to go to the shops and get the missing things though, now so many people order online the supermarkets are nowhere near as rammed as they used to be. I’ve given up on ordering online for Christmas now as it is actually easier just to go to the shops, but we live fairly close to several supermarkets. No shortages in store so far that I’ve noticed.

Flossflower · 17/12/2024 23:36

I booked my slot in October and even then put in turkey and pigs in blankets because they would have been out of stock nearer the time.

Copperoliverbear · 17/12/2024 23:53

M&S had loads.

3smallpups · 18/12/2024 00:08

Ocado is rubbish this year
I've just cancelled my order and done click and collect for Waitrose . They haven't had stuff in stock for weeks and expect you to pay 9.99 for the benefit of placing an order near Xmas
I had a small order today from Ocado and half the frozen stuff was missing , he said there had been a packing issue and most people on his round hadn't had any frozen stuff from their order .

I don’t think this is right- you don’t lose things by editing. But big items do go out of stock so always worth getting the turkey or whatever on day 1.

Furball · 18/12/2024 07:43

I've had stuff that wasn't in stock in September when the slots opened that still isn't in stock now. So I have actually bought some stuff in store whilst I was there to save the will it/won't it question.

It is a bit strange that if you do an order 2 months before that they can't get it in stock by that time.

And then makes the supposed stressless online shop more of a faff.

Mia5678 · 18/12/2024 09:05

Yes, I think it’s a bit strange to have stuff out of stock for months!

Good to hear that shops have stock - so will see what I’m missing and have my weekly Asda delivery so will try and fill in where I can.

I think I’ve learnt my lesson and won’t be using Ocado next Christmas - I did a Sainsbury’s and Asda delivery last year and that worked well but might try Waitrose as they seem to have better stock levels.

thanks everyone for the comments!

I've cancelled my Xmas Ocado slot as the stuff I wanted never came into stock. Oh well 🤷‍♀️

Jaccolbean · 18/12/2024 16:01

last year when I logged on (at midnight)to get my order booked a lot of stuff was already out of stock. I then wondered if that was why the Christmas foodstuff had been available to add to your basket for a few weeks already.
This year I put together my Christmas basket in advance of the slots becoming available, so when the slots did open up, I just selected a time slot and added everything already in my basket to it. That worked much better.

Patienceinshortsupply · 18/12/2024 17:01

Makes me wonder if M & S aren't supplying Ocado very well - same thing happened with Waitrose before they pulled out of their deal with them.

TheChosenTwo · 18/12/2024 17:08

I stopped using ocado as our weekly supermarket when they jumped into bed with M&S, don’t like their regular food, so much convenience food masquerading as good quality but really it’s just convenience food.
However we have still booked a Christmas slot for the basic veg, cream, butter, pudding ingredients etc etc.
booked it months ago when the slots came out but cancelled it last week, so much stuff out of stock.
It’s fine, will just go to the supermarket instead, early start, headphones on, will be fine for us. We are hosting for 20ish and I’m not remotely panicked, there will be plenty of food!

mondaytosunday · 18/12/2024 17:29

@VegTrug I learned this the hard way. Had a Sainsbury's order booked well in advanced then edited it but when I went to check out it said my turkey was now out of stock! So I cancelled the amendments and left the order as it was and got my turkey.

RunAwayTurnAwayRunAwayTurnAway · 18/12/2024 17:51

There is literally nothing in stock on Ocado. I have deliveries booked for Friday evening and Monday morning. I have a turkey breast and 2 Yule logs that I must have had amazing luck to see available when they were for a short time. No party foods, no cake, no biscuits… 😭.
