Reluctant to help as he said he wanted to do it himself but as I knew would happen DH has now came to me and asked for help on what to buy his mum for Christmas.

Any suggestions?

Tell him to sort it himself. Not your problem.

Hermanfromguesswho · 16/12/2024 22:06

Say ‘I can’t think of anything, sorry, I’m sure she’ll love whatever you choose’

goldencabbage · 16/12/2024 22:07

Ask him what she likes?

Onlyonekenobe · 16/12/2024 22:07

“You know her better than I do, pick whatever you think she’d like”.

cestlavielife · 16/12/2024 22:10

Direct him to the numerous gifting articles on many websites . " what buy a woman of xx age"
Or just say "buy her some m and s chocolates/ a hamper"
If he says oh that s a rubbish idea just say that is all you can suggest.

Do you want an answer for your partner (as in you don’t want to input into it). If you want ideas for a present, then I think if you and your husband have no idea, then a bunch of randoms won’t have a clue either! Lego? Hermes scarf? Bottle of Brouilly? Lace shirt? Model railway set? Laptop? Leg of Jamon?

YorkieTheRabbit · 16/12/2024 22:17

Do you actually want to help him?
If so, we need a bit more information on his mum.
Is she someone who enjoys beauty, fashion, gardening, reading, cooking, theatre, eating out?

"What does she like?" is the first question to ask him, though it's my guess you will have a better idea of that than he does...

I don't see any harm in making suggestions so long as he does the legwork!

A nice blanket, a parfume, a book, a tea cup and some nice teas, a trip to the cinema/theatre/cafe with DH, a framed picture of your family, thick cozy socks, chocolate...

Clarins shower gels smell so good - Tonic (the yellow one) is my fave.

Charbonnel et Walker or other fancy chocolates.

Cashmere jumper

Candles

Bottle of her perfume

Tickets for all of you to go to the local panto.

Does she have any hobbies or interests?
