We need an emollient to prevent WW3 arguments or debate on topics like immigration or benefits at the table - anyone got any tips that will suit late 70s parents, teen kids and me and DH? Thought about those toys you race or maybe a quiz ?

We’ve done bingo, pin the tail on the donkey and ‘who am I?’. All sound a bit infantile but are actually fun. You can get packs on Amazon for not much. Eg amzn.to/3VGyla6

Also you can get trivia card packs which are sometimes good.

Six second scribbles fits the bill. Fun, easy, nothing contentious.

Bingo will work. My mum is getting g very doddery so a speed challenge type thing like articulate or scribbling might not work but will be fab for a party at new year !

Roulette (if you have/can source a roulette wheel) as an alternative to bingo.

Colourbrain is a great game. There's no strict time limit and you can pair up too. We played from early teen to late 70s and it got pretty competitive.
