Stocking filler alternative to hot sauce?

My DC are teens but still love stockings.
I always try to get them equivalent things because they like sitting together and opening them.

This year I spotted a bottle of green Tabasco sauce that Dd will love when I thought I had finished buying everything. I want to get DS something similar to even up - cheap, edible, perhaps in a bottle or jar; he doesn’t like sauces or spice really though.

Can anyone think of a good equivalent sort of item?

Syrup for hot chocolate?

Standingontheedgeofforever · 12/12/2024 13:39

Nutella/jam/marmalade?

Hot honey is a trendy condiment at the moment

SybilTheSpy · 12/12/2024 13:41

or if the hot honey is too spicy, maybe some pistachio creme. Or M&S do a jar of hazelnut creme that tastes like the inside of a kinder bueno

Some of that chocolate sauce that goes hard on icecream, literal opposite to hot sauce?

HerbertVonDoodlebug · 12/12/2024 13:42

Maple syrup?

Freeze dried sweets seem to be in at the moment, something different.
My DH got the jelly bean game one year that was quite fun.

not solving your problem but where did you get the green tabasco from?

I get mine regularly from Tesco

The 'Just Spices' seasoning mixes are nice, they do them in Sainburys now (maybe other supermarkets too, I don't know). My teen DSS likes the 'Sandwich seasoning' one:

I nostalgically love the idea of the chocolate sauce that goes hard on ice cream, does it even exist any more?
I feel I haven’t tasted it since the 80s!

Coffee/hot choc syrups might be a good shout, they both have hot chocolate sachets in their stockings already, and DS does like the odd coffee too.

And yes, to the person who asked, I found the green Tabasco in a massive Tesco extra supermarket.

Have you seen the drink/sweets bottle of ‘hot sauce’? Home & bargain and b&m had them in. They’re small but really cute and a nice equivalent

FoxInABox · 12/12/2024 22:39

This is it - quite cheap in the shops mentioned, very cute!

I was going suggest coffee syrup but see it's already been suggested. Or maybe soda stream flavouring if you have one.

CinnamonStar · 13/12/2024 07:10

Ooh, the sour candy sauce looks ideal! Thank you.
