Just another day

This will be the first time my child and me will spend Christmas by ourselves at our house
We've always gone to my mum's and there's always been at least one cousin for her to play with
This year she's said to me 'won't it be just like a normal day?'

I mean I get her point...

Anyone else felt like this?

Christmas day is what you make it. If you aim to make it fun for you both, you can't go far wrong. Do things you like, have food you like, watch films or programmes that you like. Put up a Christmas tree and decorate it together?

The chief thing I remember about my childhood Christmases was the atmosphere. Sometimes it was nicer than others, but there wasn't often a lot of effort to make it fun for us.

You can do a lot to make it a special time

No not just another day: stocking, presents, very special food, board games, special TV etc. Time spent together not all doing separate things.
