Buying CDs online

My partner would like a CD for Christmas (plus a few other things). Amazon sells the one he's after (an 80s band) but I've been wondering if it's ok to order CDs online to be sent in the post? Do they arrive in one piece can anyone tell me or should I venture out to an old style record shop?

I've had plenty of CDs through the post over the years and never had an issue. Even the ones in carboard covers arrive fine
