I'm considering getting my DCs a VR headset ...

But I know nothing about them!

Is this a waste of money?

What do I need to consider when looking for one? Can you recommend any budget friendly models?

Many thanks for any comments.

My DS had one for Christmas 3 years and he's hardly used it. He says it makes him feel ill. I had a couple of goes myself and ended up feeling a bit queasy! 🤢 They are brilliant though in that they're realistic. But I couldn't stand it for more than a couple of minutes at a time. Don't think it's been used the last 2 years!

Are you thinking of getting the Meta one? If you do, get Walkabout Golf; it’s the best game ever!
I love the VR headset, as long as the game isn’t scary. I got VR sickness a little bit initially if I was flying around, but I don’t really get it anymore.

Nothing to add really except to say whenever I tried to use them it gave me a "sea sickness" feeling and I ended up on the floor for 20 minutes trying to recover 😂

My DS got one last Christmas and it has been used pretty much every day.
My other DS is always sneaking a go too so he is getting one this Christmas.
Both like playing Blades of Sorcery.

Mine got one last Christmas too! It's used every single day! He loves it! Also, I have never seen a kid sweat or move as fast as when he's playing on his! What I will say is make sure you have plenty of 'play space' because it's like watching a ninja on speed and he whacks himself on something all the time!

We got one for our three teenage boys two Christmases ago. It was fun trying it out and they used it during that Christmas but haven’t used it since.

We purchased a meta quest 2 for my daughter 2 years ago. She used it loads at the time but now it's boxed away ( I need to sell it but eBay and vinted are saturated with them! )
My cousins son visited ours and played on hers and loved it. They purchased one last Xmas and he's on his every day

We have one , it was used on and off then not used for ages . But I'd say in last 3 months my son has used it every day after school.

We bought the extra battery pack/head set which is easier to adjust .

It did make me feel sick .

We bought some candied ginger to help with the nausea and it did the trick. I think my brain also eventually got used to it.

Thank you for the feedback! I think I'm off to eBay to get a second hand one just in case it is never used again. Thank you for the games tips too!

My ds has had one for years and used off and on, he got a new ps5 one last year and seems to use that one more but certainly not as much as his pc /ps5.
If your dc are old enough and want it, I would ask them which one they want
