Jamie's gravy

I've just made this for the first time today and it's a bit meh. Not really got the depth of flavour I was looking for. Anyone else found this and did you manage to fix it? Or do I need to be patient and adding the turkey juices will somehow make it taste of something?

Totally cheated this year. M&S had a meal deal last month and the gravy and stuffing were part of the sides, which we weren't needing, so in the freezer they went.

Yes use stock instead of water but whatever you do don't use it without adding juices etc on the day, which transforms it. On it's own it's no good.
