Two girls 12/11 and a 9yo boy would love to take them to a show/musical in bham / London.

What do you reckon we should see?

Wicked, Hadestown, Mean Girls, Mrs Doubtfire, Starlight express. All great and popular options with children. Percy Jackson just opened too.

Catabogus · 01/12/2024 16:47

My children loved Matilda at a similar age

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 01/12/2024 16:49

Wicked, Six, Starrlight

unlikelychump · 01/12/2024 16:51

Good suggestions thanks. They don't want Matilda sadly. I think they are going to be too young for Six although the girls love the soundtrack. I might look up starlight express

Matilda is just wonderful
this Christmas we are (DSs 9 and 11) going to see the new revival of Oliver! However it doesn’t open until next week so no reviews yet

Malbucket · 01/12/2024 16:53

Back to the future?!

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 01/12/2024 16:57

Guys and Dolls - though your youngest may be too young for it, I suppose.

I'd disagree on too young for Six. I know younger that have seen it, loved it and any innuendos go over their head. Kids i teach have never seen it yet all know the songs. Thoroughly recommend

Back to the Future
The Lion King
Oliver

Clearinguptheclutter · 01/12/2024 17:04

Yes mine loved Back to the future too, though I’d recommend watching the film first

I adored the Lion King twice but it’s not one of my kids’ favourites oddly

ZZGirl · 01/12/2024 17:05

All I'd say about Guys and Dolls is check dates as it closes at the end of January.

Can you tell theatre is my thing 😆

unlikelychump · 01/12/2024 19:37

I don't think I want to see back to the future.
Cats any good? Are they too young for Les mis?

Back to the Futire is superb - the effects are amazing. Why don’t you want to see it?

Chitty Chitty Bang bang is touring next year

Cats isn't on.
Back to the Future is great. Les Mis might be a bit much for the 9 year old. Everything suggested here is incredible though. The West End is so strong at the moment.

Clearinguptheclutter · 01/12/2024 22:03

Having seen Les Mis twice and it’s my absolute favorite I def would not take a 9year old. A teenager I would. I think I loved it at about 15.

Tiswa · 01/12/2024 22:05

Back to the future is v good. starlight express is also very good

It's an incredible production but I think the storyline might go over their heads.

baddecisionsmakegreatcompany · 01/12/2024 22:30

Is the Play That Goes Wrong an option?

LIZS · 01/12/2024 22:34

Hamilton, Wicked, Six, Joseph is touring, Hercules opens next spring

mummyof2boys30 · 01/12/2024 22:39

Back to the future is amazing
We are hoping to get back next year for our 4th time. 12 year old is obsessed with it

LIZS · 01/12/2024 22:41

Harry Potter?

ZZGirl · 02/12/2024 07:01

LIZS · 01/12/2024 22:41

Harry Potter?

It's so long though 😴😴

BeaLola · 02/12/2024 12:13

I love the theatre but Cats was my least favourite thing

DS at that age loved the Play that goes wrong, Oliver, Wicked , Joseph

Runnersandtoms · 02/12/2024 12:25

The new Oliver is brilliant. Not sure if The Play that goes wrong is still on but my kids loved it.
