Is it odd to not put any other decorations on the christmas tree other than lights?

I've got lights on mine so far and I really like how it looks with just lights so I'm considering just leaving it, is that weird?

I’ve done that in the past. Do what you like. I’m not a fan of over decorated trees. I like the actual tree too.

ShodAndShadySenators · 30/11/2024 19:56

It's your tree, you can do whatever you like. You could leave it with just the lights on and see how you go - you might be happy to keep it as it is or might decide to add something else.

I like all the baubles I have and for me, they're the stars of the show rather than the lights. But if you love it with just the lights, nothing wrong or weird about that, it's your call!

Openmouthinsertfood · 30/11/2024 19:57

If you like it then why shouldn't you have it that way? I usually smoother my tree with tinsel but I got a new pre-lit multicoloured tree this year and I loved the colours so much I feel it didn't need tinsel. I did put baubles on it though as it looked a little sad during day light hours. Would that perhaps be the case for yours?

GrumpyCactus · 30/11/2024 20:00

It's your tree so you can if course do as you want but I'd be a little sad to not put ours up given we only have them out for a small part of the year.

Although ours are all special in some way, we don't have any generic ones so I can imagine if you just had bog standard ones then it wouldn't be so weird to leave them off.

Pistachiochiochio · 30/11/2024 20:07

We've done that before and it's really effective. I'd add tinsel or lametta

NuffSaidSam · 30/11/2024 20:29

I like baubles, but have it however you like it.

Sunnyside4 · 30/11/2024 20:31

No, have it how it suits you. We put baubles and tinsel on our, but one or our cats won't leave them alone - we end up with a half decorated tree.

TENSsion · 30/11/2024 21:07

It’s supposed to make you happy. That’s all. So if just lights makes you happy, just do lights.

Littlemissgobby · 30/11/2024 21:08

The tree fairy will be watching and judging and the elf on the shelf will destroy the tree be warned

TheSquareMile · 30/11/2024 21:11

Not at all, sometimes trees like that are really striking.

I passed a tree this afternoon which was decorated in just a swirl of red fairy lights - it looked fabulous!

wintersgold · 01/12/2024 16:27

Normal in our house. We have cats who would destroy all the baubles overnight if we dared put any on our tree.

Cluckycluck · 01/12/2024 17:17

Thanks all!

DD has already claimed all the special baubles for her little tree so they are still on display but elsewhere will be bauble-less.
