Dash cam advice - present for DH

My impossible to buy for DH would like a dash cam for Christmas. I’ve had a look at Halfords & become bemused by the choices.
Does anyone have one? Or any advice or recommendations?

Following this thread as I'd like to get my 17 & 18 year olds one but at the same time not break the bank....

DH and I have Nextbase ones, I have a 3 series and he has a 5 series. We’ve had them a good few years now. One of my friend’s DH is a Police Officer on Traffic/Roads and he recommended the Nextbase ones. The 5 series and above you can view the footage remotely without taking the SD card out. They have some offers on around this time of year…..

I got a nextbase one that fits over the interior mirror. It makes the mirror bigger for one and the screen goes off after a little while but keeps on recording. They're pretty mint.
