Brio/train sets

Hi All,

Been thinking about a Brio/similar set for DS (just turned 3) for Xmas.

Had a read of previous threads and looks like starting out a good idea would be track, train and maybe a couple fl accessories.

Seems like most trains are compatible with most track from various places but what I can't seem to find is if this is also true of the battery trains. If I bought a brio battery train and then track from say John Lewis does anyone know if they work together? I assume so but thought best to check before disappointment on the big day!

Yes its all good. I have 2 massive boxes of track and a 3 drawers of trains accumuated from 3 boys that were massive train/track fans and it is all a mix of Brio/Thomas/Ikea/random track, battery trains and non battery trains. All good as long as its for the wooden track.

Brio is good but i never really noticed and difference between the track and bridges etc. Their battery trains were prob a bit more powerful.

Yes, all compatible. Btw if you don't want to spend £100's on a set, alot of this stuff ends up in the charity shops or 2nd hand market, DS won't know the difference.

We have a mix of Brio and IKEA for both the trains and the track and they are compatible.

@oneuponedown we started with IKEA, then my sons added to the collection with brio (second hand) and charity shop stuff. Got some good bargains at car boot sales too. Eldest has now moved onto Hornby model trains 🤣
