Any gift ideas for my son's new girlfriend, please!! She's American; I've only met her once on the way to drop them off at the airport so no clues as to what she likes. They're both coming for Christmas & I'm struggling to come up with a suitable gift/gifts. It's early days so don't really want a joint pressie as they don't live together 🤔 I really need someone inspiration 🤯😆

Have a look on Katie Loxton or Tutti Jewellery x lots of lovely gifts on there x

If she loves British crap go to Fortnum or somewhere like that for some themed gifts.

I usually go for posh pyjamas for a new girlfriend

Don't know what your budget is but in the past I have bought them a cashmere scarf or snood.

healthybychristmas · 27/11/2024 12:03

Ask your son for ideas.

Sillysausage76 · 27/11/2024 12:03

Could you do her a stocking with socks, bath bombs/products, face mask or gelled eye mask. Hat and scarf set, sweets that's sort of thing?

Ggmores · 27/11/2024 12:04

Definitely not jewellery or clothes. It’s so personal and you won’t know her size. Consumables are the best, chocolate (American chocolate is notoriously bad so she’ll probably appreciate it), tea, etc. That way if she doesn’t like it, it can be shared with flatmates, friends etc.

A nice pair of PJs from Victoria secrets or similar would be good IMO!

ViciousCurrentBun · 27/11/2024 12:06

How much do you want to spend?

Cashmere socks are just lovely about £30 a pair upwards.

The first year for DS GF I bought her a set of bamboo make up brushes but I knew she wanted a matching set instead of the odds and ends she had.

Six years on I have just bought her a handbag reduced from £100 to £40 in TK Maxx. I do her a stocking as well as she never had them as a child.

@ViciousCurrentBun That sounds lovely! Both DSs have long term partners now and I actually enjoy buying for the GFs now after a lifetime of buying for boys.

One of my (now ex) boyfriend’s mum got me a copy of Lord of the Rings and I really loved that. I’m very much into make up etc, so beauty products would have been the easy option, but I loved that she got me that. I was 17 at the time and it’s still one of my favourite gifts. So I’d recommend a book of some sort

I looked on this thread for ideas what to buy son's gf, who I haven't yet met. I don't know if she has any allergies, things she hates, etc. I want something nice but not too personal as they haven't been together long but they seem serious. What do you think about an ornament or gemstone or hair decoration?

How old is she?

Lillixyng · 14/12/2024 10:39

The Sea Shed do some amazing soaps.

RosesAndHellebores · 14/12/2024 10:43

For new gf's or even pre dil gfs I usually bought something with their initial.from Oliver Bonas, a trinket box, possibly silver earrings, or hat/gloves - usually a combination of two and £30 tops.

Runskiyoga · 14/12/2024 10:44

I've gone for fingerless mittens/wrist warmers, nice lined ones

Dizzles69 · 20/12/2024 13:56

Thank you all for your lovely ideas. I ended up buying her a bracelet which she put straight on & says she'll wear it all the time so I guess that's a great result! We've had our Christmas early as they both work in USA. Merry Christmas to you all & a happy and healthy new year 💖🥂🍾 xx
